Are you aware of #VeggieKarte? 🌱 🗺️

It is an #OpenStreetMap based service to find #vegan (and #vegetarian) restaurants, in other words an open alternative to #HappyCow (except for the review functionality).

You can contribute by maintaining entries via your #OSM account and the source code is deposited on #codeberg.

Veggiekarte - Find vegetarian and vegan places

A map to find vegetarian and vegan restaurants in your city.

Reviews from #LibReviews are linked to #VeggieKarte, but the entries are rare and an invite token is required in order to create an account. The latter can be requested by DM from @lib_reviews.

lib.reviews - Welcome!

@lib_reviews see this toot about how to use #OSMand for the same purpose allowing to filter also for currently open restaurants: https://chaos.social/@Cs137/112283052768786167

This is still pretty cool! I'd like to see way more lib.reviews integrations.
@Cs137 what is the advantage for vegans ?
@JohnKeats finding suitable restaurants
@Cs137 ok, so there should only be two options, vegan only and vegan unfriendly. Or which vegans eat delicious vegan meals with everyone around consuming body parts or not my mom not my milk "products" and call the place vegan friendly? Sorry but I don't get that.
@JohnKeats choose "vegan only" in the filter. Is reading that hard? Sorry, but I don't get that!

@Cs137 This is great! Unfortunately it doesn't seem like they've updated the data from OSM in years. But on Codeberg I see active development, so I hope they will update it soon.
@forteller they mention somewhere in the docs that the data are pulled once per hour. If you encounter mistakes and change data, it should be reflected in the map after 60 mins in the worst case.

@forteller

It's mentioned in the first sentence of the last paragraph of the info text that's shown during the initialisation of the map: "Veggiekarte is updated automatically every hour."
