April is worm month for #InsertAnInvert2024 so I have busily been printing some worms. They are a great deal more varied than those you might know from your garden & the oceans are home to many weird & wonderful worms.

The first prompt is “long, no limbs” and I have made a linocut of the six-lined ribbon worm (Tubulanus sexlineatus). It is dark brown with 5 narrow, (sometimes discontinuous) longitudinal, 🧵1/

white stripes, with indications of a sixth stripe midventrally and encircled in up to 150 white bands. Tubulanus is a genus of primitive nemertean worms in the order Palaeonemertea. It lives on the Pacific coast of North America from Alaska to California. Amazingly this is a species which can to regrow a head after amputation which is very weird indeed!
