Instead of saying "We're excited to announce we've been acquired!" I wish companies would just say they're sorry.
@Moltz They are mostly excited for their bank balances.
@davidbcohen “We're sorry but some of us got rich." How hard is it to say that?
@Moltz They do seem to have an _affinity_ for painting a rosier picture than it is.
@Moltz just once, I’d like to see an email close with “Disrespectfully -“
@Moltz
“And this is the REAL reason we didn’t compensate with equity!“
@Moltz It’s not so bad. At least “there are no plans at this time” to make it worse.
@marcintosh Yeah. But I lack trust.
@Moltz Same. The “at this time” part makes me think I’ll have to get an iMac out of storage some day just to keep running the current version.
@Moltz @lisamelton “We’ve been acquired” translates to “we sold out” and/or “we cashed in” every single time.
@jsj @Moltz @lisamelton lol honestly i have no problem with "selling out” when folks are frank about it, e.g. “Hey folks, just letting you know, we decided to take the money. Thanks for helping us get here.”
@jimniels @jsj @lisamelton Yep. I'd sell! I just hate those emails that so usually precede the product turning to shit. In this case, it seems like that will take a while at the least so that's good.
@Moltz @evert can’t help but this is exactly how I feel about Affinity apps and Canva 🤷‍♂️

@Moltz eh, people have to move on!

sometimes they’ll forego years of better opportunities.

why be mad they’ve been able to benefit from it?

@benschwarz I don't fault them for selling out, I'd totally do it. It's just trying to sell these things as positive when they so often end up making the products I use worse or killing them entirely.
@Moltz I get you. How many good services have we watched die now? 😩

@Moltz it’s more like a failure as the company’s vision will never be reached.
