This shining example of a man drove his Cybertruck on our local beach near Santa Cruz and of course got it stuck. This car is really becoming a symbol for poor life choices.

@sdw did it rust there? 😂

i mean… stainless steel w/o surface treatment and sand and salt water is terrible combination

@radovan I think they come pre-rusted now
@sdw @radovan Then you could park one of those in almost any park in Germany and it wouldn't draw much attention - town planners over here love ugly rusted steel sculptures with lots of hard edges. Put a little plaque with a fancy title, a date and an artist's name in front of it and you'll be fine...
@gnaddrig @sdw actually, corten steel is rusted to stay protected from weather. it is designed and used because of that feature. but cybertruck is no corten
@radovan @sdw Sure, but maybe you won't see the difference for a couple of years.

@gnaddrig @sdw but it’s rusted right away. and then it’s stable

anyway… you don’t sell it as shiny metal

@gnaddrig @sdw @radovan
I guess dogs (and people) would piss on it though, which would accelerate the rusting

(OTOH, the same thing probably happens wherever you park it :-p)

@gnaddrig @sdw @radovan

It might be mistaken for one of these 6 m³ trash container …

@sdw is that premium option? 😂

@sdw @radovan

Pre-rusted? How?
Did Elon bless the Cybertrucks by waving his hands around them like a demon warlock?

@Aleggra @sdw @radovan Science! Just dump it in a concentrated saline solution a few times and don't wash.
@hananc @Aleggra @sdw @radovan ok, bare with me: mobile cathodic protection unit. Just drive the electric rust bucket to whatever infrastructure you need to protect against corrosion, and hook it up with alligator clips.
@sdw @radovan as a color option.
@radovan @sdw came here to say this ^^^^
@sdw sorta has the feel of one of those whale carcasses that wash up from time to time
@mwyman @sdw maybe they’ll have to blow it up
@mwyman @sdw A couple thousand pounds of TNT will definitely fix the problem. https://youtu.be/V6CLumsir34
The Exploding Whale: An infamous moment in Oregon history creates a strangely beloved icon

YouTube
@the_other_jon @mwyman @sdw For those who haven't seen it before, this is worth watching.
@RBuzz @the_other_jon @mwyman @sdw Dude is right. This is the greatest video in the history of humanity.
@the_other_jon @mwyman @sdw Thank you for this video. It made my day😂

@mwyman @sdw

Big silver fish.

Or big silverfish.

@sdw Flying Cybertruck fixes this.
@sdw All for teh lulz and likes! /s
@sdw the Cyber Truck really is one of the ugliest motors on the road .. think it was created as a bit of a piss take ... Cannot imagine why anyone would buy one.

@PGBeattie @sdw

A gallon of ketamine told Elon it looked good.

@PGBeattie @sdw
I actually saw one in person and it is even uglier up close. It was baffling that it could be more hideous than it looks in pictures.

And yet, there it was.

@sdw Guess that's one good thing about it!
@sdw
Poor fella though it was a truck :(
@sdw To quote Bugs Bunny, "What a maroon."
@sdw The people who lined up to pre-order the Cybertruck were already predisposed to idiocy.
@sdw
Let me guess, too heavy?
@zem @sdw as much as it weighs you would need to fit larger tires and run them at low pressure to get enough floatation, which the stock suspension doesn’t allow.
@sdw @Gte
Wait a few days, and it’ll rust enough to carry back in pieces.
Utter Teslacles!

@sdw "Cybertrucks In Distress" is a genre which is giving me life!

#Cybertruck

@sdw I planted a 4x4 on a beach in ‘71. The tow truck had appropriate giant rims & balloon tires.
Love Rally, Paris—Dakar & Baja vehicles :)

@stevewfolds what I’ve seen so far is that the cybertruck suspension really isn’t built for serious off road, but I expect there will be 3rd party lift and upgrade kits pretty soon.

For sand it needs better flotation at that weight and the upper control arms make running bigger tires or even airing down to the pressures you want on sand.

Driver is a complete ass for taking it onto a public beach, Pismo’s not that far.

@sdw Should have been made in Core-10 steel.
@sdw Reminds me of when I worked for a road service company and would get dipshits in their pickups asking for a tow because they drove where they shouldn't. They were always so mad when I told them their membership didn't cover that and they'd have to pay for it themselves.
@sdw @qui_oui Send in the tides.
@jwoodgett @sdw @qui_oui Finally King Canute gets to have the last laugh.
@sdw @dartigen the sand should do some nice damage to the metal

@sdw
Where allowed it is quite normal for a truck to be driven on the beach.

This is just more evidence that this is a truck in name only.

And the actual electric trucks I have seen? The ones that replace the huge engine compartment with lockable covered storage space so you basically have a trunk AND a flat bed? Awesome.

Darth Elmo isn't really a truck guy, doesn't know what a truck was supposed to do.

@Urban_Hermit @sdw There was a recent post on The War Zone talking about the case for turning the MuskTruck into an autonomous ground vehicle for the military.

No, no, no, no, no, no. This is a
TERRIBLE idea. It is such a fundamentally incompetent vehicle that it would probably be cheaper and less work to start over from scratch.
The Case For Turning Cybertruck Into A Militarized Unmanned Ground Vehicle

Cybertruck may be controversial, but it has an uncanny mix of features that could make it an incredibly cost-effective militarized drone.

The War Zone
@zakalwe @sdw @Urban_Hermit
Given the options of (a) purchasing and deploying militarised Cybertrucks or (b) losing a war, there'd need to be some serious analysis to work out which had the worst outcomes.

@zakalwe @sdw @[email protected]

Elon would probably say "why do we have to do all this DoD paperwork?"

And then refuse to do it.

And then get his shit kicked in by the DoD the first time they request paperwork when the autonomous truck gets stuck or hurts a friendly combatant.

@zakalwe @sdw @Urban_Hermit I think the idea is to trick the enemy into deploying them.
@zakalwe @sdw @Urban_Hermit I know this article says that it has an author, but most of those paragraphs give me real "written by a chatbot" vibes.
