Happy birthday, #RSS 🎉

25 years ago, Netscape released you to gather headlines from various websites, in the 2000s you became a common way of following online content, only to be superseded by algorithmic feeds in the 2010s (cf. #enshittification).

While your mothership is long gone and the little orange icons left most footers, you are still doing the diligent work of Really Simple Syndication across the #OpenWeb, especially for blogs and podcasts.

Cheers & kudos!

My all-time favorite RSS reader is NetNewsWire by @brentsimmons!

It runs on Apple desktop computers and mobile devices, syncs via various services, and is free and open source.

And it comes with a special feature for distraction-free reading: the magical reader view that can be enabled by default on a per-feed basis. So handy!
