@DEWLine @BadSocialism @larrynemecek @jswhitten GJ 3414 is a dim M2 class red dwarf. Not sure whether life would exist there. However, according to Simbad, HD 10226 is a G1V type Sun-like star. Surely much more likely?

@kevinjardine @BadSocialism @larrynemecek @jswhitten We need something within easier jumping distance of the old "core" systems of the Federation for the purposes of the Dominion War plotlines of #deepspacenine

And GJ 3414 might play nicely with some #EdgeOfMidnight stuff about the Fed-Klingon Cold War's political consequences.

Also, I did a hashtag search last night before bed, and found that I'd already tried to raise the topic six months earlier on the Hellbirdsite.

@DEWLine @BadSocialism @larrynemecek @jswhitten Well the G1V sun-like star is about 50 parsecs away and the M2 red dwarf is about 20 parsecs away so maybe either is "close enough"? In which case I'd be inclined to go with the sun-like star.
@kevinjardine @DEWLine @BadSocialism @larrynemecek I agree, I look for a match for the star's spectral type in star charts if possible, and it shows it as a yellow star.
@kevinjardine @DEWLine @BadSocialism @larrynemecek 112 Piscium is another possibility. A little off from where the map shows it but it's G type and much closer to the Sun.

@jswhitten @kevinjardine @BadSocialism @larrynemecek 112 Piscium? Depending on whether you put Bajor and Cardassia in the direction of Ursa Major or Cetus...
