You're not wrong. @notjustbikes isn't wrong either. But it's going to take a damn long time to fix in NA. As he himself has stated.
You're also missing the forest for the trees. Trucking and commercial transportation account for a significant portion of green house gases. The push for EVs will transform these sectors as well.
And I agree, it is systematic. So it's nice to see governments doing something about it. Attacking EVs is just nonsensical. They can be part of the solution.
@paultk @notjustbikes Yes and no - OFC EVs work great for shunting and last mile delivery since that's where it can play it's key strenghts: excellent stop & go efficiencies.

#PublicTransport is the key - Ideally using #Trolleybuses as this will reduce the amount of hazardously mined, energy-consumingly refined and unfair traded minerals needed...
@paultk @notjustbikes And even if we need stuff outside of a grid, avoiding #batteries in lieu of #Methonal #fuelCells will be a good drop-in replacement that provides the advantages of easy-to convert logistics [after all Methanol handles not dissimilar from gasoline unlike hughly compressed hydrogen], making it easy to remove combustion engines whilst providing Diesel-like range...
Not to mention #Methanol #FuelCells can replace #ColdStandby emergency systems relying of #Diesel generators or other combustion engines, allowing for scalable applications from a #PersonalLightVehicle to giant freighters at sea, which are one of the worst air pollutants in the workd due to basically using more or less unfiltered crude oil aka. #HeavyFuelOil
