Lithium+ batteries carry lots of energy, and can be dangerous if abused. It's not clear if end-of-life petrol/Diesel cars were also involved in this blaze, but it is clear that, while offering many benefits, EVs have to be treated with respect.

> It is important to distinguish between road-registered EVs and other devices that contain lithium-ion batteries such as e-bikes and e-scooters. Fires in such e-micromobility devices are much more common due to damaged or poor-quality battery cells, while batteries in road registered EVs are designed to stricter safety regulations.

My pet peeve with EVs. Huge amounts of interior space but often very low payloads.
Take the five seater Kia PV5 Passenger with a huge boot. It has a payload of 414 kg (plus 75 kg for the driver.)
Put 4 x 75 kg adults (+ driver) in the Kia and and 5 x 20 kg backpacks you have used up 400 kg of your payload.
Want to tow a trailer in this scenario then you can't. The noseweight of a trailer and the towbar count towards the payload. Both will weigh much more than 14 kg.
