About a third of #Ontario public hospitals have unused operating capacity, meanwhile the Ford government is forging ahead to create a duplicate private surgical clinic system that will compete for qualified staff and thereby worsen wait times across the province.

Another way to steal your money and futures. WTF, did all the ‘First World’ leaders get up one day & say “I think I’ll destroy all the gains made by post-WWII society”? That’s what they are doing. Please, don’t elect your enemies.

@gemelliz And Trudeau could stop him any time he wants by actually enforcing the Canada Health Act. He has a working majority because the NDP would back that. Privatization is happening in every province in this country so there's no escaping the conclusion that it's a federal policy to pretend not to see it as it metastasizes.

Meanwhile, I just finished this episode from CBC's White Coat Black Art.

It highlights the huge shortage of dermatologists, through this clinic that has lineups starting at 6 a.m. of people worried they may have cancer, because regular clinics have waiting lists over a year and dermatologists are retiring faster than they can be replaced.

Wait times for dermatology appointments have patients lining up before dawn at a unique rapid-access clinic. Their conditions range from severe rashes to hair loss to potentially cancerous moles. Dermatologists say they’re taking on more referrals, many are nearing retirement, and there aren’t enough new graduates.
