A good way to justify UBI to even anti-taxation and anti-welfare people is to base it on claims to land and natural resources. Unlike other kinds of property rights, which are based on getting the fruits of labor, these are not the fruits of anyone's labor. People, in some sense, have an equal claim to such property in natural resources and land. The basic income is compensation for their share of this common inheritance. 100% #LandValueTax and natural resource rents would fund the UBI

@jlou The reason why I prefer the term #JustRent over #LandValueTax is that #HenryGeorge showed that there is no moral basis to claims of #property rights in the gifts and produce of Nature. A tax is an excise against property, and Nature cannot be in any real sense Property. The #SingleTax is a Just Rent, in that it is both only Rent and it is Just as in Justice. #LVT is properly a tax, at all, it is an obligatory but non-coercive usage fee for the necessary privatization of common wealth.
