@johannab I would argue that #UBI should be separate from allocations for healthcare, education, and possibly even housing, because it's obvious that some people will choose to spend their UBI unwisely, so we should at least ensure these common goods.
As for how to pay for it, I argue that #LVT #LandValueTax as the #SingleTax is the right way. We don't need to muck about with income taxes, estate taxes, or anything else (other than pollution taxes).
I disgree that children should get less.
Every word of Prof. Murphy's presentation here is equally applicable to the US.

The primary argument for #LandValueTax as the #SingleTax is not that it is demonstrably the most effective and efficient means of #taxation, it's the moral argument that #LVT is the only tax which comports with the requirements of #morality based on the #NaturalRights theory of #Equality, #Liberty, and #Justice for All.
Acceptance of this is unnecessary, because even if you don't believe in #libertarian #philosophy, you still believe in the authority of government to tax anything it wishes.
That is why #LandValueTaxation is the only legitimate form of #taxation, and why #LVT should be the #SingleTax.
The value of #land is not created by individual human #labor, yet it accrues to the individual as a by-product of the fact that a civil #society requires division of #Nature into parcels, and it is the role of the state to act as #trustee of the people to ensure the rights of the exclusive #occupant, #tenant, or "#owner".
Protected land tenancy is a #monopoly granted by government.
