The good news for proponents of #socialism is that the means is at hand for us to provide for all the good benefits socialism promises, without resorting to the coercion which defines the essence of socialism.
That means is #LandValueTaxation #LVT, or as I perfer to call it, #JustRent.
It's "Just Rent", because it's "just" in the sense of "only", being the reclamation of the value of economic rents for the community which created them, and it's "just" in the sense of #Iustitia, or "Justice".
We should not want to regulate rents, we should want to drive #landlords out of business by taxing away their unearned incomes.
We don't need "reform", we need transformation.

Some days, I still can't believe that people are so foolish as to believe that if you pass laws taxing the incomes of the wealthy, they will not simply move most of their incomes to places where it can't be taxed.
The wealthy should pay more taxes, but progressive income #taxation isn't a good way to tax.
#LVT #LandValueTax #JustRent is the correct solution. You can't move land or equivalent monopoly privileges. They are fixed to location and cannot be hidden. There's no escape. #economics
"Everyone has to work to eat (unless rich) or else no one will do any work" is such a messed up way of thinking about human behavior and our apparent need to sustain poverty to prevent the collapse of civilization. Most everyone wants more than a poverty line unconditional basic income would provide.
