People on Mastodon: I don't get why more people don't join the platform. We are very relatable.

Top post on Mastodon: If you spend 72 hours reprogramming the 1982 Commodore 64 computer using a long-forgotten latin coding language, you can make it display a pop-up window that you would typically only see on the original 1984 Apple Macintosh. Go ahead and try it for yourself.

@lowqualityfacts I don't see the problem here
@krupo @lowqualityfacts this is exactly why I’m on Mastodon!
@krupo @lowqualityfacts I know right? This is important information that the average person should know
@lowqualityfacts haha mood, though at least on my instance it seems like it's pretty balanced, cats still seem the most popular thing by far
@anthropy @lowqualityfacts I like how all the retrocomputing people took Saturday off to post about cats.
@elb @lowqualityfacts either that or they went fursuiting .. or both

@anthropy @elb @lowqualityfacts

There is a 99% chance that your IT guy looks like this:

@lowqualityfacts
Hey! We are not all like that.
BTW, do you know you can run your own instance with GoToSocial, it's very lightweight and you can set it up easily by command line on a VPS, just remember to close all unnecessary ports so you don't get hacked, also some updates break the database so make constant backups and obviously have fun!
@Andres @lowqualityfacts huh, what updates broke the DB? WFM for over a year…
@mirabilos @lowqualityfacts
Sorry I forgot the \j at the end.
@mirabilos @lowqualityfacts
\j is the same as \s were \s is sarcasm and \j is joke, used to add context to some phrase expressing it's a joke and not a serious affirmation.
@Andres @lowqualityfacts better add the explanation there, too… not many people would know that
@Andres @lowqualityfacts what happened to just tagging things with <joke>this is funny</joke>?

@Andres @lowqualityfacts

All this talk about closing ports, what about closing portholes? Won't the sub leak if those are left open?

@lowqualityfacts and you don’t even get the correct image after you follow the instructions, it’s just pixel art of a furry convention

@lowqualityfacts

This is what brought me here back in '17. The place was full of wierdos with all kinds of interests--some completely bonkers--that they'd enthusiastically post about.

I don't want Mastodon to be the new Twitter. I want people from Twitter to come here and discover that joy.

@suetanvil @lowqualityfacts
That weirdness *was* the vibe on Twitter for the first 5-6 years, until it became $TWTR on the stock market.
@lowqualityfacts
..."also, just FYI, next weekend we're holding a furry parade benefit for trans youth."
@lowqualityfacts we are hip, we are with it.

@wpieper @lowqualityfacts

I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary.

@lowqualityfacts Where's the contradiction? I wish more people were here posting that kind of content.

@lowqualityfacts but no algorithm, nor company’s self interest, nor obscure advertisement policies.

Come and post your shit and let others to freely make it even more relevant

@lowqualityfacts eh, depends on the server

Mastodon failed to capitalize on the benefits of interconnected but specialized smaller communities

Well, "failed" is maybe the wrong choice of words. I am rather happy with how it turned out

@lowqualityfacts Man this is EXACTLY the kind of quality content I crave. Just bros being geeks lmao, kinda adorable honestly
@lowqualityfacts I still don’t get why more people don’t join the platform. I found your post very interesting. 🧐

@lowqualityfacts

Daffy Duck : Stampede of wild elephants!
[Looks at watch]
Daffy Duck : 3:57 p.m.!
[looks at calendar]
Daffy Duck : Fourth of July!
[Sticks head out door pelted with hailstones]
Daffy Duck : Hail storm! Oh, no!
Porky Pig : Oh, yes. A b-b-black eye. Pay me.
Daffy Duck : Oh, no. It distinctly says "a stampede of wild elephants and one baby zebra."
[to audience]
Daffy Duck : I just added that one.
[Suddenly baby zebra runs in, trampling Daffy]
Daffy Duck : And one baby zebra.

@lowqualityfacts the answer probably involves the vast majority of potential users requiring seamless simplicity.

Like: pick up a remote control for a TV that you never used before, it's likely that you'll have some control over the TV by simply clicking something. You'll soon figure out how to change channel despite clumsiness.

Ultimately: a single click from one channel to another, to another, to another, and raise and lower the volume, and mute, and so on — without having to think about anything REMOTELY like federation between BBC1 and BBC2.

@lowqualityfacts I love being one of the Luddite’s over here! IG often makes me feel like the only person that finished college. Appreciate the various folks that give step by step instructions for increasing the usefulness of my feed and app. 🥰
@lowqualityfacts 😁😆😃🙃😵‍💫😂
@lowqualityfacts because i got banned for criticizing pro-palestinians.
who ever mods this instance needs to be less biased.
@lowqualityfacts The Fediverse also feels a bit like an echo chamber to me
@lowqualityfacts are you claiming that facts of low value are keeping people away?
@lowqualityfacts Maybe it's also got something to do with some folks calling people worse than Hitler for not adding image descriptions or content warnings. Maybe.
@lowqualityfacts This is why I joined #Mastadon yesterday! Have been looking for this information forever and I am trying it now!
@lowqualityfacts This asks for a speed run. If it works for games, it also works for programming.
@lowqualityfacts
Your quality never fails to impress. Thank you for being you!!
