Gooooood morning. It's release day for ALL SOULS LOST my novel of noir and spookiness and the supernatural. Spiritual consultant Mike Lucifer is back in town after two years of trying to run from his past, and quickly gets embroiled in a new case. When all signs point to something shady going on at a big tech company, he investigates, but he may be in over his head…

It's tense, twisty, and more than a little bit funny. But you don't have to take my word for it!

@dmoren Congratulations!

Dumb question: what's the easiest way to just get a generic epub?

@caseyliss @dmoren I’m pretty sure that Kobo gives you a standard no drm epub.
@caseyliss I believe any of the ebook copies should essentially be epubs. I don’t think there’s DRM on any of them but maybe somebody who’s bought a copy can vouch. What are you going to read it on?
@dmoren @caseyliss The copy I bought on Amazon isn’t ePub, but Amazon’s proprietary “azw3.” That said it seems to be DRM-free and Calibre seems to be able to convert it.
@dmoren @caseyliss maybe he bought one of those WiFi refrigerators with a screen. Not sure they come in white though….

@dmoren @caseyliss If you purchase on Amazon and go to the content page listing books there's a download option under "more options." The format it downloads is AZW3 (https://docs.fileformat.com/ebook/azw3/) which will need to be converted for any non-Kindle device.

There does not seem to be any DRM on it; Calibre opened it just fine. It should be able to convert it to whatever format one likes.

Or you could try https://github.com/kevinhendricks/KindleUnpack if you really enjoy dealing with python dependency misery.

What is an AZW3 file?

Learn about AZW3 file format and APIs that can create and open AZW3 files.

@dmoren A Kindle, but I like to keep my options open. :)
@caseyliss @dmoren You can REALLY keep your options open
@caseyliss @dmoren I know in Google Play they're downloading as plain epubs.

Why did I think you could use Apple Pages to create ePubs?

Is that what you meant by ‘get’? Create, make? Or did you mean, download, procure, read, understand?
