Today, I received my free COVID-19 tests that I ordered via the US Postal Service last week.

If you haven't done so already, you can order up to 4 free COVID-19 tests by visiting https://special.usps.com/testkits

@DataDrivenMD How are you feeling about remaining COVID tests we may still have left from the end of last year, earlier this year? Worth tossing to be safe and get new ones for this season, or OK to use them as we go into Fall and Winter this year?

@DataDrivenMD

What were the pull dates on the tests you got?

I've heard (credibly) several times that the CDC was post-dating (or back-dating is it?) the expiration dates

@FinchHaven @DataDrivenMD Received Abbott BinaxNOW, expired in June 2023, extended to January 2024. Came with a postcard with info on extended expiration dates. #covidtests https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/coronavirus-covid-19-and-medical-devices/home-otc-covid-19-diagnostic-tests

@DataDrivenMD

Got mine today and one of them from last time turned out to be very helpful in catching covid in one of my children. Tests work.

@DataDrivenMD
I'm so grateful to work for the #library in #Tacoma where #CovidTests are #Free
@DataDrivenMD Today I received an order from Amazon. No tests. Mostly electronics. And a box of crayons.

@DataDrivenMD
@jerry

please please please - when using them - be certain to check closely and tightly on the test section - its wicked hard to see some of the positive tests.

seeing a lot of the faintest lines for some of these older/expired/but FDA extended test kits...

@dustinfinn the good news is that @DataDrivenMD is a medical doctor

@jerry @DataDrivenMD

oh - effin awesome... love that.

I - did not - obvs - click through the profile until just now...

so... my bad :)

@jerry @dustinfinn I agree that even a faint pink line is to be considered a COVID positive result. I'll add that, when doubt, assume a positive result and retest in 12-18 hours. If asymptomatic and the 2nd test is negative and there's no known COVID exposure, then resuming normal activities should be fine. If faint line and symptoms are present or there's a known COVID exposure without symptoms, then assume COVID positive unless proven negative via PCR.
@DataDrivenMD @jerry yeah it was a rough week last and a lot of tests were used.
@DataDrivenMD @7leaguebootdisk I got mine today too. Had my booster on Saturday. Sunday was sick as a dog, but today better!
@ChrisBoese @DataDrivenMD @7leaguebootdisk
My son, young adult, says he has never been as sick as he was after boosting (not true, I remember his 4 yo fever-wracked self fresh from the bath, shivering uncontrollably while puking into the toilet, still my mental image of misery). He won't do it again.
@MHowell @DataDrivenMD @7leaguebootdisk I will do it every time a booster is available. Being puny and sleeping for a day is far better than Long COVID and infinitely better than death. Shringrix side effects just as bad or worse. I don’t want Shingles either
@ChrisBoese @DataDrivenMD @7leaguebootdisk
No, you don't want shingles. My mom, who stubbornly chose not to use the prescribed medication, suffered with stabbing shingles pain for 8-10 years.
@MHowell @ChrisBoese @7leaguebootdisk I've had patients hospitalized for treatment of shingles *pain* — another proof point that the vaccine is always a better option than the actual disease
@ChrisBoese @DataDrivenMD @7leaguebootdisk
Yeah, but somewhat self-inflicted, because she questioned her doctors when she didn't know more than them.
@MHowell @ChrisBoese @DataDrivenMD well, perhaps he'll get the novavax when it gets approved, it has lower side effects than the mRNA vaccines.
@DataDrivenMD Yep. USPS even kept emailing me with the status of the package so I knew when it would be delivered. All this despite DeJoy, may his brain rot with rat lungworm.

@DataDrivenMD just ordered mine, thanks!

...Hope this wasn't an elaborate phishing scam 🤔

@DataDrivenMD today I received my free covid booster vaccine and my free flu vaccine from the pharmacist at the end of our street. Thats what healthcare should look like.
