Givien the prices of fresh veggies (driven by greed at this point), the pleasure of #gardening, the lack of a real market within walking distance (endemic in the US), I am thinking of putting in an nice raised bed similar to that pictured (that’s not my yard!) next year.

@tneoini do it! Raised beds are awesome!
@Aminorjourney I think it will be fantastic. Thanks for the support!
@tneoini I’m really lucky. I have a pretty large garden, and this past year I’ve been able to grow lots with raised beds. Our “take 2” channel of @show shares some of my exploits this year. https://youtube.com/@TransportevolvedTake2?si=bpdDfVUcTvhv4Pxf

@tneoini I suggest to make the raised beds not too big. You wanna be able to reach into the middle comfortably from each side to pull weeds or plant or harvest etc. I don't know if a big bed as in the picture is the most practical choice for vegetable gardening. But whatever works well for you. Just get started. Wish you all the best!
@levampyre
That makes great sense. Thank you!

@tneoini heck yeah!

I prefer growing in-ground personally (after covering with cardboard or black plastic to kill the grass, then turning the soil with a digging fork or shovel) because it's cheaper, but I also really like digging. Whatever way works for you, go for it!

If you have a lot of beds to fill, sometimes you can find a horse farm that will deliver already-aged horse manure. The stuff we recieved the time we did that had a lot of wood bedding in it but even so it grew absolutely amazing tomatoes and made the pumpkin vines happy too. Main downside is there's usually oats and stuff in it that grow into weeds - but because it's a loose sort of soil they're easy to pull.

@legumancer not sure which way we’ll go. Thank you so much for the help!!
