Givien the prices of fresh veggies (driven by greed at this point), the pleasure of #gardening, the lack of a real market within walking distance (endemic in the US), I am thinking of putting in an nice raised bed similar to that pictured (that’s not my yard!) next year.

#urbangardening

@tneoini heck yeah!

I prefer growing in-ground personally (after covering with cardboard or black plastic to kill the grass, then turning the soil with a digging fork or shovel) because it's cheaper, but I also really like digging. Whatever way works for you, go for it!

If you have a lot of beds to fill, sometimes you can find a horse farm that will deliver already-aged horse manure. The stuff we recieved the time we did that had a lot of wood bedding in it but even so it grew absolutely amazing tomatoes and made the pumpkin vines happy too. Main downside is there's usually oats and stuff in it that grow into weeds - but because it's a loose sort of soil they're easy to pull.

@legumancer not sure which way we’ll go. Thank you so much for the help!!
