You will experience climate change through a series of increasingly wild videos, until one day it's you taking the video.

#climatechange

@yogthos it's gonna be nasty in bk and queens for a bit. Oooofff
@yogthos I had my first brush with that this summer... It's surreal seeing these kinds of videos, but nowhere near as surreal as taking them yourself
@etherdiver @yogthos it's even more surreal that no politician on this planet is taking action to prevent this in the future ...
@yogthos I am experiencing this. More times recently than ever before.
@yogthos I'm impressed the traffic signals are working.
@yogthos what was the 2nd last clip? seemed like it was just raining?
@catgirl I guess that must've been the start of it before it got flooded
@catgirl @yogthos I thought the same - why put that in? It wasn’t the same location as the other shots as far as I’m aware. 🤷‍♂️
@yogthos @lisamelton it’s a really bad time to get into basement apartment rentals it seems.
@yogthos there is no climate emergency. Nothing to see here.
@yogthos
Those are surprisingly hard hitting words. Good.
I hope this spreads far and wide.

@yogthos

The thing is, will it be the "Greece" side of climate change or the "Canada" side? (This video is the "Greece" side of the sliding scale.)

@artisanrox @yogthos (In which I am too lazy to scare up the “Porque No Los Dos?” meme)
‘Lytton is gone’: wildfire tears through village after record-breaking heat

Officials had little time to issue evacuation orders while dry conditions make suppressing wildfires in Canada impossible

How will Canada’s national flood insurance program work? - MoneySense

Flooding is the dominant climate threat facing Canadians today. Here’s how a federally subsidized program could help home owners in high-risk areas.

MoneySense
@artisanrox @yogthos if you speak of burning forests or floods, Greece had both.

@artisanrox @yogthos Both. It will be both, in alternation… at least, if the trends of the last few years here in New England hold true.

And thus, even harder to adapt to.

We so need to fight this thing. The inaction is lethal.

@yogthos The future is holding for you one line one
@yogthos NGL, I’m a little in love with (bus driver?) Ay-yi-yi-yi-yi Guy.
@yogthos Just wait for the El Niño winter moisture...

@yogthos Yep, you're basically seeing what #Brisbane got last year. Welcome to La Niña.

(PS: please shoot in landscape… vertical videos make me feel like I'm a creepy voyeur peeking through a key-hole.)

@yogthos Usually I don't share videos but your toot is spot on!
@yogthos Time for the annual 500 year flooding event!
@yogthos It’s like Waterworld part 2, New York City. Oh my poor home city. 😢
@yogthos Miami on an extreme high tide is like that a lot
@yogthos 100% what we have been saying. Eventually we'll stop saying "oh wow, look at that" and start taking names.
@yogthos This is the best description of the climate wake up call we all need.

@yogthos it hits when you realize how your expectations have changed because this is not the first time.

It has become obvious what to expect. I wonder how to dare a climate denier to compare notes with any kid under 22. They haven't ever seen *normal.* Climate deniers are boiled frogs.

@yogthos What i don‘t get, why are so many people still driving around in these crazy waters, often wrecking their cars? I see this every time, and i am still baffled by this.
@yogthos @levampyre please don't use the propaganda term climate change, we're in a #climatecrisis ... thanks ☺️
@count You think, it is a propaganda term? Why, because "change" sounds mild and more passive? I think, both is true, we're changing the climate, we're at a critical stage and the consequence is a collaps. I don't think anybody here is denying #ClimateChange (804/week), #ClimateCrisis (447/week) or #ClimateCollaps (1/week). It's more about reach of hashtags really. @yogthos
@count @levampyre I just used the tag cause it had more activity, but I agree it is a crisis
@yogthos How is this any special to Americans? I hate to say it, but "weather" won't convince people. Also, there's the shifted baseline effect.

@yogthos @Marielvd These floods Will keep happening even if we do reduce all co2 emissions.
Because we can't reduce co2 fast enough we need to start stratospheric aerosol injection now!
Please read the blog before you disagree

Summer of 2023. We can and must stop escalating climatechange destruction by starting Stratospheric aerosol injection now

Economic Capitalism Revolt To Save this Earth
@hanscees @yogthos I agree. We are already to late to stop climate change with reducing CO2. We need other options
@hanscees @Marielvd I expect we are going to end up trying some geoengineering at some point, I agree that we're past the point where we can just cut emissions

@yogthos Scortching heat, water missing and ruined food culture don't buzz in the networks as vidéos.

They're the real threat.

@yogthos I Increasingly I recommend people move to live on a boat and I suppose this is one way of doing so. 🤷‍♂️
@yogthos
I have no car. Eating way less meat. no milk. 100% carbon free electricity supplier.
I am not the part of humans who keep worsen the #climatecrises. It is man made. There are enough SUV drivers in the video. Start pointing with the finger directly on them.
There is no "we". There are people who are reacting and changing. And there are the guilty.
sick of it
@yogthos Thinking of writing a poem that starts, "When the videos were shared from the Maldives, I didn't watch them, because I'm not from the Maldives." and goes on from there.
@yogthos You can continue denying as much and as strong by as you want. Until it’s too late and the truth hurts you in the face!
@yogthos
I was the one taking the video in 2004 and 2022. That's enough! 🥲
@yogthos My most obvious was shoveling 15 feet of snow one winter a few years ago, more than the typically very snowy Syracuse, New York got that winter, in typically very minimally snowy Washington, D.C.
@yogthos @Ursalzona I can't help but find it really amusing, the biggest, most known and one of the richest cities in the world suffering with floods like a third world city.
@yogthos yep, and then we ask - how did we let it get to this? A revisit of the documentary ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ did foretell most of this - which at the time people thought was outrageous- now it’s happening world wide, consistently…
@yogthos Or it's you fleeng your country because it's become unliveable and it's under your refugee bed that racists will throw grenades...
