I’m gonna launch a few items of merch next year. They’re very cool and will appeal to a much wider reach than the “Snazzy Labs YouTube audience” so I want to sell them under a separate brand. But what on earth do I name the site/company/etc.? Names are hard…
Just spitballing here, but… Copland Supply?

Lots reading as cop-land and while incorrect, that’s very fair. Copland (cope-lind) is a big ‘ol fail of an operating system that never released following Mac OS System 7.

Maybe I need to make it more “apple-y?” This too over the top? Idk.

I could also just choose a different name, but I love the sound and lore of Copeland.

@snazzyq Copland with the six colour treatment could have potential trademark issues?
@gnb I don’t think so. Copland doesn’t appear to have been trademarked by them, and if I’m mistaken, it was ever only used internally. Of course, I’ll consult my lawyer before getting serious, but I don’t think it would be an issue.
@snazzyq @gnb Copland was also code named 'pink' (I was on the System 7 or 'blue' team) This was pre the Jobs resurrection so I'm quite sure anyone who would care about you using "Copland" is long gone...
@scottjenson @snazzyq @gnb I’m pretty sure Taligent was Pink, not Copland, but you were there.
@snazzyq I like the pure yellow dot. Lots of fun directions you can take it in. Imagine selling, say, a bag with a discreet yellow dot. Cute!
@snazzyq What the heck is “Mac OS System 7”?
@siracusa @snazzyq Vaguely tangentially: is “Macintosh” used anywhere by Apple anymore? Macintosh is dead; long live the Mac?
@redler @snazzyq “Macintosh HD” maybe?
@siracusa @redler @snazzyq is that still the default name of the main volume? Been a while since I setup a new Mac.
@siracusa @snazzyq hmmm, good call. The vestige that proves the rule, perhaps.

@siracusa @snazzyq 7.6 was the first to be labelled "Mac OS”
@snazzyq I’d guess more people than you may think are always going to think of Sly Stallone with that name

@snazzyq The rotating zoom outline when opening Finder windows was shit-hot. https://youtu.be/bXfsAYUjvms

@siracusa @snazzyq I never heard this pronunciation of “index” they way she did in this video.
@siracusa like, chipotle shit-hot? Or just run of the mill Taco Bell?
@siracusa I’ve watched these videos countless times and don’t think I ever noticed that they swap the WindowShade and Zoom buttons on some of the demos. Clearly they were still deciding. Did any test builds actually ship with the WindowShade button on the left?
@freehours9 I don’t remember, but probably.
@siracusa I remember watching this the first time on Computer Chronicles (the original airing in the 90’s) and never realized the Apple person was just playing these videos.
@freehours9 @siracusa I remember feeling being ripped off by a “MacOS 8 Demo CD!” bundled with a magazine that was just a Macromedia Director project with these videos in it.
@siracusa Aaron is a novice, Chris is an intermediate user, Kelly is an advanced user. Wonder what Pat was?!?
@siracusa Oh, man. I'm pretty sure I had an extension for System 7 on my Mac SE that added that. It took forever to “render” the "animation", but it was totally worth it.
@snazzyq I think you’re off on a bit of a Taligent with that naming idea. 🤪
@snazzyq An apple-y brand for Snazzy Labs? Why not Snapple? It’s totally unique and definitely not trademarked
@snazzyq Your pronunciation is not in line with that of the composer for which it was named.
@snazzyq Love the white on black with six colors O! Agreed on the sound and lore for sure.
@snazzyq No cops…

@snazzyq I am a dummy 🤦🏻‍♂️ Thank you, Quinn.
@snazzyq @noahsegal if the goal is to reach a much broader audience I wouldn’t go with a name that can easily be read as cop-land by anyone who isn’t familiar with a never released OS.
If the goal is to an apple connoisseur audience, then sure
@snazzyq don’t know about the name but that’s a great font choice
@snazzyq Merchware for the Common Man?
@snazzyq sMerch. With the lowercase s, the s is for snazzy but never spelled out loud, i think it's a funny word.
@snazzyq if it’s apparel, hopefully you still incorporate Snazzy in the name
@snazzyq Why not Snazzy… *something*? “Snazzy” is a pretty ambiguous and uncommon word that has a positive connotation — all good things for marketing. And for people who *do* know your YouTube channel, they know it’s all tied together. No need for a new name, IMO.
@snazzyq I reckon just ‘Snazzy’ on its own could be a good fit because people would call stylish clothes snazzy anyway.
@snazzyq Well obviously not Q-Tube... 😂
@snazzyq I do quite like Quinntessentialism.
@snazzyq Snozzle Trading Company
@snazzyq Sanzzstyle or maybe something with Sully?
Who doesn’t like buying something that is named after a cute cat?
@snazzyq pretty obvious to me: Quinntessential
@snazzyq razzle-dazzle apparel
@snazzyq time to revive the Think Geek brand.
@snazzyq I like being direct and to the point: Snazzy Merch
