Folks, if you believe the #Unity3D backpedal, you need to- sit with your feelings a sec, because. Heh.

Nobody deletes a git repo for "low views." #GameDevs don't delete anything unless someone tells them to / they need to, because, why would you? It costs nothing to just leave it there. Unless.

@glassbottommeg Their feefees got hurt by the low view count and they decided to make everyone else pay the fee-fees.
@glassbottommeg What gets me is that it would be easier to just not respond than giving an obviously bullshit justification for removing it.
@glassbottommeg not even a developer and I know that line of reasoning doesn't make sense.
@glassbottommeg I always check the view counts on my licence agreement. If the engagement is low I change it or remove it. Give users a call to action, like and subscribe
@glassbottommeg I don’t believe for a second that they even measured the views of a git repo!
@glassbottommeg I mean their whole “back down” offer means you still have to pay for pro then also get hit with revenue percentage fees without them really putting down the work for a better engine.
@glassbottommeg @lisamelton I disagree. I think that they did remove it because the views were so low because they thought that nobody would notice their shenanigans 😭
@glassbottommeg maybe they were really strapped for space in the repo, and had a really cool SVG they wanted to put in; but not cool enough to warrant replacing an important file.

@glassbottommeg Developers are digital hoarders. I have stuff that I probably should have deleted ages ago that has nonetheless been dutifully transferred between half a dozen different PCs over the years.

Also like actual hoarders too... does anyone need an RCA cable? No? VGA?

@tojiro I may even have a ps2 mouse adapter in the bottom of my "random tech stuff" box 😅
@silk_flame @tojiro look PS/2 might come back! And what if we suddenly get into retro computing!
@glassbottommeg It's pretty crappy on its own, but the delivery of trying to shame their userbase for having the AUDACITY to assume negative intent... when they deleted terms... and tried to hide that they deleted them....... Like, what is this "we're disappointed in you" rhetoric?? Super gross.
@glassbottommeg I'm also beyond sick of "apologies" that blame *the reaction* to what they did.
@glassbottommeg they did it for money and they will do it again for money
@glassbottommeg Such a bad excuse. You don't go refresh TOS frequently. You set alerts and monitor.
@glassbottommeg If that’s the metric to delete git repos we’d all be purging 😅
@glassbottommeg They thought GitHub was TikTok 🤦
@glassbottommeg lol… is trump in charge for the twitter a account now? „geniously… tremendously Disappointed! Fake news!“
@glassbottommeg @lisamelton my entire GitHub would be 404 if I removed repos for low views.
@glassbottommeg It wasn't a success by any of GitHub's metrics! There was barely any activity on any forks, and not a single pull request was made!
@glassbottommeg It's almost like they realize that they sharted the bed.
@glassbottommeg it's kind of a farce on its face. "Because we were disappointed that not enough people saw it, we thought the best action was to make it impossible to see it"

@glassbottommeg Yeah anybody who is convinced this is the end of it needs their head examined.

The best you can hope for if you're a scrappy little indie is that they won't stomp you intentionally.

@glassbottommeg ah the classic "I'm sorry you were upset" apology
