Introducing GNOME 45

YouTube
@gnome Will Ubuntu 22.04 use GNOME 45 for the GNOME desktop now?
@gnome @9pfs Probably arrives for next LTS release, Ubuntu 24.04...
@the_codifier @gnome @9pfs Actually 23.10, if you don't care about running a non-LTS release. Will be released on October 12th.
@gnome @joenepraat @9pfs Do you think that GNOME 45 will be able to enter the 23.10 release? Or is it official that they put it in?

The Register
@9pfs @gnome
No, and never will. You should upgrade to 23.10
@gnome Most of the things that have been bothering me for the last while are listed in this release. Incredible work. I'm especially looking forward to the new workspace indicator, faster search, smoother cursor movement and faster thumbnails. GNOME is such a good piece of software 😍

@gnome is there any other way of watching that video, something that is not youtube (Google)?

Why not use a #FreeSoftware solution such as #PeerTube that would allow you to be free from Google?

(I would generally recommend GNOME to avoid Google, doing so would help GNOME show that you are serious about protecting people's privacy.)

@gnome congrats on the release! Looks great 😊
@gnome @ebassi congratulations to the hard working GNOME community on the release of version 45.
@gnome Congrats! I’m looking forward to try it!
@gnome Yeah ... And be ready to lose your favorites extensions ...
@rapharo Many extensions have already been ported to support GNOME 45 ☺️

@gnome
You are missing a feature: the new infinity month view in Calendar! Quite a big change! Maybe it can still be added (to the release notes)?

Having said that: the release notes are excellent!

@all GNOME-developers: thanks for the hard work! Every release feels like a present!

@gnome I got lost after Gnome3, has it been that long? 😰

@gnome There's a typo in 👇

> Our next release, GNOME 46, is planned for March 2023.

Not sure if the writer of this post is here, but I assume they meant 2024 here.
