Because I'm only seeing other #Jews posting about this, non-Jews I need you to be aware that for the past month or two there has been a wave of bomb threats and swattings at #synagogues all across the US. They usually do it when services are being livestreamed. I haven't seen a single non-Jew talking about this. High holidays are coming up in a few weeks, which is when most attacks happen against our #communities. We're worried, and we need #people to know what's happening to us.

@donkeyblam just be there for our jewish comrades in your locals and team up with your local antifa/anarchists/leftist antiauthoritarian antinationalist activists in solidarity if there is any trouble from rightwing nutjobs/nazis/neonazis/neofascists. All I can suggest really. Promote awareness for social issues like this to.

@donkeyblam yeah I've noticed it also, rightwing conspiracies infecting some spaces. I do my best to counter it where possible with correct info and choose not to have unvaxxed people or those types hanging around me. Anyone who wants to debate it gets the boot.

@nando161 More importantly it shows something we all need to highlight in ourselves --- I realized I was doing similiar things just expressed differently. We need to break these cycles of cycles. I also highly reccomend watching Gurren Laggan to anyone who hasn't, as that says like, half of what I want to say, honestly.

@donkeyblam I maskup everywhere still and always get my flu and covid vaccines when a new ones available or any other needles for immune system support if they become free. Lead by example as herd immunity doesn't exist in all outcomes and possibilities.

@nando161 Immunity wanes as well as variants changing - even if you manage to get covid its not a zero sum game after that, you still can get infected and are surprisingly likely to get long covid.
It's *MORE* important to do the right thing when nobody else is, then do the right thing when everyone else is.

@nando161 @DarkAthena @orafifila I've noticed and pushed back against some troubling Jewish stereotypes in left-leaning spaces recently. Even when it's a supposedly positive or neutral trait, it's still a stereotype and needs to be addressed. I need to have an uncomfortable conversation with one next time I see them in person.

As an ally, remember that your continuing support despite your discomfort is appreciated and needed.

This is not something I was aware of (and I'm president of my Synagogue, if you can believe that).

We need to be stepping up our vigilance - we're not bad now in that regard, but no way do we want to have SWAT show up or a bomb threat (G-d forbid) disrupt our services.

@nando161 Frankly, anyone doing this sort of thing is a terrorist. The ones who actually follow through are MURDERING terrorists, but the empty-threat nature of fake bomb threats is still terrorism, and SWATting in our current environment of hyper-militarized cops is genuinely life-threatening.

@nando161 I drove through the Jewish section of Sydney’s biggest cemetery recently and sat for a while at the Memorial Wall to those killed by the Nazis, which is behind a locked gate. It was a very quiet, warm afternoon, the sun was soft and all the horror seemed a world away. But there was the gate, and the padlock. I’m not sure what I can do except share this, so I will do that. @nando161 I’m not Jewish, but I’ve been seeing this too. This has been going on for more than a month or two. My (former) dentist’s son got arrested for threatening to bomb the only synagogue in our political district almost 4 months ago [3 months before this original post]

I’m just going to say that you’re not alone in seeing this happening. There was tons of outrage when the news broke about that boy despite us being in a generally conservative district.
