I use different instances to maintain differing "views" of the world through Mastodon.
My home server is where I see a little bit of everything - mostly news, #cats, and #science.
I have an instance where I subscribe to mostly #food related stuff and #recipe hashtags. And another where I subscribe to #sciencefiction, #StarTrek, and TV stuff.
At first the many different instances thing felt like a handicap moving from birdsite, now it's a feature.
