It creates a severe moral hazard for us diplomatically. Could result in us being isolated from our allies in future. That's terribly dangerous.

@davevolek @georgetakei I propose literacy, history and basic critical thinking tests, that should weed out 99% of the Republicans. Honestly, if you can’t do these basic things, you cannot govern the nation, so fuck right off.
In almost every other profession, there are basic requirements to enter and be certified in that profession. Then there are the disciplinary measures to deal with those professionals who do not adhere to certain standards.
Except for the profession of politics. Go figure!
And our elections are no longer able to cast the worse practitioners aside.
It is time for a new way.
@davevolek @georgetakei exactly, this is a job interview, you are applying to be a public servant, so I don’t care who people would rather have a beer with, I care if they are qualified to do the job.
Do you find it unusual that people who are experts in "political science" seldom get into the profession of politics?
Other than that academic training, I'm not really seeing anything that could be construed as "qualifications for the job."
@davevolek @georgetakei I would say that qualifications for the job would be less likely to entail a specific education, but the absence of disqualifying views.
If you fundamentally don’t believe government can work, then you are there to sabotage it and have no place serving the public.
If you deny history, then you have no business deciding on the budget for schools.
If you don’t know how to read, if you can’t do basic math, etc. then buddy, you cannot run society effectively.

Trump's going to get convicted of something and I don't believe the Republicans can win the election either way, anyway. But even if he doesn't, the GOP *will* win the next one. AirForcePam@georgetakei kind of difficult for #theDonald to serve as Potus from a Prison cell. He would have limited visitors allowed & he would have to wait in line to use the phone. So no more late night calls. Hopefully they would put him in a super max prison since his crimes are AGAINST our country & deserve the strictest punishment.
