@georgetakei Either Putin smashes Wagner in the next 24 hours or so, or Russia will dissolve into civil war. Either way, Russia isn't going to have the military resources to maintain their invasion of Ukraine for much longer.

@tiberiusgracchus @georgetakei No, what would happen if Putin fell is that the other factions in Russia would fight for control, possibly fracturing or even balkanizing the Russian Federation entirely. I doubt Wagner could actually keep hold of power on its own, even if it killed Putin. Russia is a gigantic machine that runs on fear and corruption. A military junta is unqualified for running that.

@VHasch @georgetakei You can best sum up the general Russian attitude to everything in one of their sayings: “both are worse”. It’s the most negative, nihilistic culture I’ve ever encountered.
They went from a feudal monarchy to socialism to communism to dictatorship to (sort of) capitalism in less than one century. On top of that, two brutal international wars, an even bloodier protracted revolution and the iron fist of Stalin.
Can't blame them for seeing vodka as the most stable thing in the country.

Chris StefanLukashenko is probably the next domino to fall. There are reports he or his family has fled to Turkey.
Thankfully Belarus has a credible opposition leader in Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya who wants to have Belarus join the rest of Europe.
