There is no honor in making others struggle solely because you did. Persevering through difficulty is worth celebrating, but is often worth even more if you can lessen the burden for those who come after you, especially those less fortunate, less privileged. That way lies glory.
@coachgowron
Thanks coach. This is fantastic advice. I agree 100%. I grew up poor and don't want anyone else to have to experience that.
@coachgowron
Agreed! It is like believing children should do hard labor or be abused because their parents were as a child.
@coachgowron This is a lesson the American Medical Association should really try to take to heart.

@coachgowron

As I said to my matriarchal gene donor in one of the last conversations we had before I went on my way.

"There's two types in the world. Those that suffered and say "I suffered, so everyone must suffer as I did." and those that say "I suffered, and nobody should suffer as I did." "

3 guess which type my gene donor was.

@coachgowron I do believe that overcoming adversity is good for a person, in proper measure. But while I'm willing to say that in general, I'm not in a position to determine how much adversity other people need; and even if I were, it's still not my privilege to decide for them.

Best thing to do is try to help those who are struggling.

@coachgowron
Agreed. I don't want others to suffer like I have suffered. I dont like suffering, and I care about everyone. Nobody should have to deal with what they dont like, nor be put into situations that cause them pain, imo.
@coachgowron That. Is a quality toot.
Thank you.
@coachgowron Sucess is sweeter when you offer a hand to those coming up with U!
@coachgowron
My family in particular get mad at me when I say, "Just because we went through what we did and survived does not mean others should have to go through it as well. We survived childhood in the family, we did not come out for the better in a lot of ways. I personally would never wish my childhood on others."
@coachgowron the “i had to suffer & so do you” mentality holds us back from making real change. solidarity always! <3
@coachgowron One of the benefits of having struggled or suffered is to then be able to walk along side those who are now struggling or suffering.
@coachgowron I feel like Lawyers and Doctors should have this tattooed on the inside of their eyelids.
@coachgowron Amen. The only way to help someone is to give them what they need, not what you think they need. Learned this the hard way.

@coachgowron I caught something or other under the porch, slayed it and skinned it and brought it into the kitchen. It was a struggle, but were Willie and Kate thankful? I'll let you guess their response...!!!

HINT: It starts with WTF IS THAT?!? and ends with me being locked in the attic again. 😠 Didn't even get a taste. Humph.

@coachgowron honor and glory often walk different paths; you imply they are the same; i wish they were.
@coachgowron
.. and when something works out, there is reason to celebrate!
@coachgowron i can't find the reddit post anymore but there was a story by one redditor about a class trip where they were one of the last people on a hike and noticed a branch on the path and moved it out of the way. The councilor or something then said something along the lines of "all of them went out of their way to go around. It only took one to make the path easier for everyone who comes after"
@coachgowron @geekgyrl attn: American culture and all the religions that basically don’t want anyone else to be happy
@migriverat @coachgowron Obvious toot is obvious?
@geekgyrl @coachgowron I find myself saying more and more obvious shit aloud these days. Midwesternism comes at you fast.
@coachgowron
Totally agree, i.e. "making others struggle! We all could use a mentor and be a mentor celebrate the joy of life vs the pain.
