@auschwitzmuseum So where do you guys get those pictures from?
@jeena @auschwitzmuseum at a guess, from the suitcases and belongings of the people who were victims of the camp who packed their most important possessions, or otherwise happened to have a photo with them. The Nazis kept so much evidence of their crimes
@xinit @auschwitzmuseum ah the suitcases, that makes sense, they probably catalogued everything.
@jeena There are different archives that also collect photographs of victims that were taken before the war and before the deportations.
@auschwitzmuseum I see. I'm interested because my great grandfather died in Auschwitz and I wonder if there is a way for me to get any information about him. He was not a Jew but fighting for the independence of Silesia from both Poland and Germany back then, which didn't quite work for the Nazis.
@auschwitzmuseum Just to be clear, these children were murdered by the Nazi freaks now championed by the GOP in the USA. I miss them.
@auschwitzmuseum
I said his name, Jiří Treichlinger,.
@auschwitzmuseum I said her name, Eva Treichlinger,

@auschwitzmuseum Everytime I see one of these pictures I always say to myself "how could they have done that?". To this day I simply cannot fathom how such evil could have occurred in such recent history. Yet, society never learns, minority groups, jews and those deemed not wanted are again being singled out. It all starts with the media tolerating the hate. Did we not learn? RIP Jiri and Eva, so innocent.

@auschwitzmuseum für Jiri und Eva Treichlinger, ermordet in Auschwitz. 🥲💔🖤🕯️
@auschwitzmuseum for some reason, this one brought tears to my eyes. Eight years old! It’s hard to imagine what humans are capable of doing. We need these reminders!
@auschwitzmuseum I honor and remember Jiří and Eva. This one is extra sad.
@auschwitzmuseum First time I've cried in a long time.
