CLAIM: Dems must be more moderate to win elections

Ok. Let's unpack that.

A living wage is moderate—a poverty wage is extreme

Guaranteed healthcare is moderate—denying care is extreme

Racial justice is moderate—racism is extreme

Climate justice is moderate—denying climate science is extreme

Reject GOP Framing. Lean confidently into our ideas based on facts and justice because that wins elections.

@QasimRashid Never make a deal with the devil. There's always a catch.
@QasimRashid one thing I've observed about independent moderates is that they appreciate authenticity. Too many dems feel they need to almost be apologetic for their positions while gop is unapologetic in their pretty awful stances. Dems just need to be proud of their stances, not feel like they have to make excuses for it when they get grilled by msm

@QasimRashid

That is not Just GOP framing. The Democrat leadership, currently, and in previous administrations stood against those things. "too expensive", "pie-in-the-sky", "bad for the economy," etc. On just the topic of healthcare, remember, "The public option is off the table"? Obama (who I voted for twice) came up with the plan to take 45 million uninsured and make them customers of the predatory insurance industry. And in a WH meeting he told the CEOs who crashed the world, that he was there "to protect them from the pitchforks." Our Emanuel Goldstein. It's easy to hate the hateful GOP, but ignoring the D's complicity and betrayals is disingenuous at best.

From 1904, and ever more valid.

"The Republican and Democratic parties, or, to be more exact, the Republican-Democratic party, represent the capitalist class in the class struggle. They are the political wings of the capitalist system and such differences as arise between them relate to spoils and not to principles." ~ Eugene V. Debs

@KaisoArt @QasimRashid I think creeping socialism gets a bad rap. Obama got people used to the idea of usually having healthcare coverage, and not just letting people die left and right.

@QasimRashid

right on. i have a more "extreme" left agenda, like housing for all or prison abolition, but these things you listed are so basic. all moderate things in a lot of other places. the GOP continues to crank left and democrats are failing by not resisting and simply trying to stop further progress right to appeal to the so-called center.

@QasimRashid

Just from a demographics perspective it's totally wrong also, the Democrats when when they motivate young people and the working poor to vote, they do this by embracing progressive policies, they lose when they appeal to 'moderates' -- Hillary is a great example.

@QasimRashid Dems also must check the Federal Constitution in LOOP to stop it to gain Independent Legal identity.
In a Constitution in LOOP Dems also keep LOOPING.
@QasimRashid
Republicans are openly campaigning for Fascism and Democrats have to be more moderate? Sheesh.😱
@QasimRashid glad to hear this. Progressive dems win.

@QasimRashid
Claim: All politics is local.

Ok. Let's unpack that.

Yes, that's very true. Not every constituency looks like AOC's and Bernie's.

@GreenFire @QasimRashid Dems have been absolutely slaughtered in rural areas they dominated until this last decade and it’s not AOC’s fault.

@theothersimo @QasimRashid
Here in the rural, red district that I live in, the sloppy and poor messaging of their #GreenNewDeal was directly responsible for turning it from blue to red, but whatever perhaps you also live in a red district and are trying to turn it blue too, idk where your opinion comes from.

All elections depend on the local situation rather than just what polls best in the most populous places ergo we get people like MTG and an even better example in a 50/50 district, Luna.

@GreenFire @QasimRashid I live in a red district where one of the House primary candidates ran as an “anti progressive” who bragged about not needing any votes from Sanders supporters. Fortunately a reasonable moderate won the primary; we lost the general but he didn’t destroy the party the way Manchin destroyed the once-dominant West Virginia Democratic Party.
@GreenFire @QasimRashid but yeah, the party establishment’s hanging future generations out to sue by denouncing the Green New Deal was also bad.
@theothersimo @QasimRashid
It's not what Democrats say about stuff that matters in my experience. It's what the mainstream and social media influencers say that affects the independent voters and the nonvoters to the left of us Democrats that seems to affect the elections the most, but I'm glad that the primary election in your district had enough turnout to avoid a Manchin-like general election candidate on the ballot.
@QasimRashid I'm the anarcho-communist heathen that they're all so terrified of. Can confirm I'm loads more moderate than your average Baptist.
@QasimRashid i am convinced this belief bleeds in from the right. nobody shows up to an election for more bullshit

@QasimRashid #Dems not calling for the same kind of #genocide that #GOP'lers do is already very much "moderate"...

I would only allow #Christofacists like #Trump and #DeSantis to submit their conditionless surrender because they are domestic #terrorists!

@QasimRashid

We've got to be bold and loud. Let them scream and cry that it's socialist! Drown them out. Let's fight woke! March down the streets. I know that it can be dangerous, let them come at us. We must be strong. We must be a united front against all oppression. It's too easy to watch from home and wish them well. We have to be with them, standing shoulder to shoulder.

We can't let them fool us. Fool us into thinking that we are small and a minority. We are far from it.

@QasimRashid... hospitality service is just plain slavery according to what have read...TIPS ARE NOT WAGES , or ANY PART OF ANY WAGE.!!! The MINIMUM WAGE IS A NOT A WAGE FOR WORKERS EITHER...SO WRONG !!! Allowances have no business where wages are paid...

Now is your time to answer."

@QasimRashid
If other Dem voters/donors are like me, they are driven crazy by the Dems conceding before they even start. The Dems need to decide what they stand for and then stand for it!
@QasimRashid all you say is true but the difficulty is in communicating this to the more moderate or indie sorts of voters. There needs to be a series of short spots explaining why Dems are to their benefit, in the most compact wording possible.
@QasimRashid Unfortunately, republicans have a talent for making even the most radical and dangerous policy goals sound moderate and unthreatening to the average voter while Democrats have a talent for making even the most moderate and unthreatening policy goals sound radical and dangerous to the average voter.

@QasimRashid

“Meet me in the middle,” says the unjust man.

You take one step forward, he takes one step back.

“Meet me in the middle,” says the unjust man.

@QasimRashid Oh, dontcha know "Democrats must be more murderous with cluster bombs in order to win reelection."

@QasimRashid

What wins elections:

1. Charisma
2. Vision

@QasimRashid Every day the gop is implicated in more subversion, crimes, treason, deviant sexual predation, corruption of SCOTUS, and repression of Americans rights. They are terrorists with a cult evangelical cabal.
@QasimRashid I love this! We desperately need to reframe so many of the issues and reject the fascistic, fear filled framing of the authoritarian party.
@QasimRashid it's crazy how far "right" the "left" is. If you look at a western scale for far left and far right the US in particular leans so far to the right ... and it's so normalized which is the scary part. "Keep people alive" "Equal rights for all people" is socialism?
@QasimRashid Solid. Whenever anyone asks me how I was radicalized, I say I wasn’t; I just slowly learned to reject the radical default set of assumptions in favor of a rational, humane, and frankly normal position.
@QasimRashid I get what you are saying, but Left or Right, extremism is way too prevalent. PC culture has gone way too far (digging into people’s past’s 10+ years for ammunition is insane). I honestly think that if PC culture wasn’t taken as far as it was, we wouldn’t be in such a volatile state today. There’s way more behind that line of thinking, but I think it was a catalyst for sure.
@QasimRashid if something seems too good to be true, It probably is.
@QasimRashid you're not going to deprogram people captured by the dark side with facts. They were caught with a story and that's often what you need to bring them back to the light. You can base the story on facts but it still needs to be a story that appeals to them.
@QasimRashid making Dems into GOP lite is a losing strat. Why the fuck would anyone vote for GOP lite? People who like that would rather vote for GOP regular and people who want to vote for Dems do NOT want GOP lite. These moderate fetishists need to grow a spine. cowards.
