@12thRITS none of this is "news." Environmental pollution in its many facets has been a fact in American life for generations. Ironically given the political and social "climate" - it may be advisable to wear some type of mask as often as possible outdoors. Better to suffer the social barbs than inhale the poison [a sort of pun I suppose]
