@suehewit Hi Sue. I'm a writer, keen allotment holder, living in Cumbria. Good to meet you.
@KathyJones Good morning Kathy, nice to make contact. What genre do you write in?
@suehewit a bit of everything - biography, fiction, poetry. What about you?
@KathyJones just the one novel in 2014, self published on the dreaded Amazon and a couple of short stories in a local lit/arts magazine. I did start another follow on as book was quite well received by readers but my writing needs really thorough line edits and so on and that’s a huge outlay.
@suehewit Yes, getting feedback is really hard. Do you belong to a writers' group? The other idea is to get a 'writing buddy' and agree to read each other's work and suggest edits, though you really have to trust someone! I'm luck to be well established, but I remember how hard it was starting out.
@KathyJones I was in a writer’s group for a while and found it helpful until the dynamics changed. I engaged a professional editor for the novel, she was great and we worked really well together but it’s a big financial investment which takes a long time to recoup from royalties. Still, I’m really happy to have achieved a long held ambition to write, publish and even get some good reactions.
