One thing #twitter has been (& still is) v good for is #academic discussion around work. I'm thinking #science #medicine etc... Some of this is finally beginning to occur here on #Mastodon.

So my main queries re #Threads are:
1) whether the big, early crowd it'll draw will include academics

and if the above happens...

2)... will we be able to hold off joining until they turn on #ActivityPub integration with people already here in the #Fediverse?
