My favourite DOS game was obviously Dune II. Any other answer is wrong.
@gamingonlinux donโ€™t know if it invented the genre but it was the first RTS/base builder I ever played.
@gamingonlinux I remember playing it on a 386 greyscale Compaq laptop.
@gamingonlinux my favorite DOS game was "CONFIG.SYS & AUTOEXEC.BAT manager"

@gamingonlinux I mean, you specifically say "-> my <- favorite DOS game" so yeah, can't argue with that. ;)

So, technically speaking, all replies to your post with other game suggestions are suggesting what your favorite DOS game is.

@gamingonlinux you misspelled the secret of Monkey Island
@gamingonlinux played a ton of simcity, the original in black and white.
The Ur-Quan Masters - News

Multi-platform Open Source port of the classic sci-fi game Star Control 2, based on the original source code of the 3DO version, with new features including network play and remixed music.

@gamingonlinux well of course any other answer is wrong about *your* favorite DOS game, lol
@gamingonlinux Where does Duke Nukem 3D fall on the tier list?
@gamingonlinux
I played that game everytime I went to my aunts when I was a kid. That game was so unique to anything I had played before (being 6 yrs old '93)
@gamingonlinux Also one's "favourite" anything definitely relies on subjective assumptions, so counter-answering this is nonsense :) Besides, did you ask any question ๐Ÿ˜› ? Anyway, The Secret of Monkey Island. #adventuregame #adventuregames #dosgames #retrogaming #pointandclick
@gamingonlinux Then you would like this it's on Flathub...

@gamingonlinux your spell check messed up, I think you meant Doom 2.

@gamingonlinux

*Glares in original Prince of Persia*

Dude most games TODAY don't have fencing as good as that game had, and it originally ran in the 64k Apple II

@gamingonlinux A lot of people donโ€™t realize red alert ran on dos as well as windows , but itโ€™s so much better itโ€™s not even a fair comparison.
@gamingonlinux
That's a typo for Doom 2, right?
@gamingonlinux Dune II was the only reason I got into the Dune franchise as a kid. It has its faults, but I still love playing it. Ever played the Megadrive port, or Dune 2000?
@gamingonlinux
For me it is Blue Bytes' "Albion"
@gamingonlinux but did you play the other, 1992 adventure-ish resource-ish Dune? That was something too
@gamingonlinux Sorry, the Quest for Glory series will always have my heart. If this is wrong, I don't want to be right.
@gamingonlinux actually, i should rebut that last statement, clearly your favourite game isโ€”
@gamingonlinux most important question is were you able to win final mission without cheating?
@gamingonlinux Masters of Orion 2 is right thereโ€ฆ

@gamingonlinux Look what they did to my boy Star Control II

/s, mostly ๐Ÿ˜„

@gamingonlinux Iโ€™ve put way too much hours into Stunts as a kidโ€ฆ
