Welcome to Mastodon.

Hashtags are super important and the way you get exposure. For various reasons (performance and the tendency to use text search to dogpile), there is no general fediverse wide text search so without Hashtags, no one can find your toots.

You can also subscribe/follow Hashtags in your feed which can be useful for getting a feed of content you want to see.

It explains why every search I've made comes back with nothing, however with the hashtag it produces a result.

Guess it's going to take awhile to get used to this 😅

International sport from Melbourne is rough lol

+9 hours difference from me.
It is +1 for me, so it is a bit fair. EPL is same time for most of the year, and same with most of Europe

@Chief_Ekor @Mastodon it's rough, I went two seasons without missing a Liverpool game but waking up at 1-2am then work etc just gets hard.
Especially with NBA / NFL on early mornings, AFL during the day, F1 and EPL at nights it's dangerous.

Even now with the ashes, it starts around 8 and finishes at 0330 😪

@DMH19 @Mastodon use hashtags more, they are searchable across accounts. Post an "#introduction" message with biographical info.

Use following and mute and blocks freely.

You can even configure word filters to remove posts from your feed that you never want to see, even if they are not hash tagged.

There are options there as well, you can set it to "never show" as well as "show me that someone talked about [topic] but don't show me the content."

@bmaxv hasn't realised any of this, that's awesome. Thanks for the information, I might have a look at the filters now to try to get a feed that is more to my suiting.
