@krystynlambert That picture makes me think I need the Traveler's Company Brass Clip... I'd always pictured it clipped on the side of the page, where a standard or fancy binder clip works just as well.

But at the top, it actually makes sense.

@adammiller the brass clip has been a game changer. I actually use it on the left side of the book, because I turn my book horizontally to write in the cream blank insert so I have more space left to right

@adammiller oh, and I thought to add to this that I’ve found most binder clips too lightweight to actually keep the pages held down when I’m writing. When I used a binder clip, they kept bobbing up, and the #travelersnotebook clip really holds them

@krystynlambert What’s your favorite #FountainPen that you own? I have a handful, but my favorite is my Sailor Compass 1911. Second would be my Kaweco Sport.

@lunchb0x_b by far the pilot e95s. I had bad luck with several Kawecos, but obviously they’re doing something right! I know so many people who swear by them. What do you like about the sport?

@krystynlambert They’re definitely hit or miss due to quality control. I never loved mine when I had a fine nib, but I replaced it with a medium and it was a game changer for me. I’m also really bad for not using my pens for a long while and I’ve never had either my Sailor or my Kaweco dry out on me. I’ve literally gone months at a time and never once have they hard started or anything.

@krystynlambert I definitely want a high end Sailor, but I just can’t justify spending $300+ on a pen I’m barely gonna use.

The lower end Sailor pens with steel nibs perform very much like their more expensive cousins. The biggest difference is the body size.

My first Sailor pen was a Procolor 500 which sold me on the brand. Then I got a 1911 which was nice (because I have big hands and like a larger pen) and then i purchased a 1911L which was disappointing because there is almost no size difference and the 21K nib does not have any significant advantages over the 18K nib despite the huge price difference. I now have maybe seven Sailor pens and a few of the cheaper ones are ... uninspiring but the nibs are still good.

So I can shed some light on this. The Procolor and the Profit Casual have the best steel nib Sailor offers, their professional line steel nib. It’s made almost exactly like the PGS nib and feels similar but stiffer.

However: The Lecoule and the Compass/Profit Jr. have a less well-made steel nib more intended for school pen use. The High Ace Neo has their F-4 nib, this is a good nib but has a different kind of feedback that is not to some people’s taste.

I write with a very light touch so I have to admit that nib stiffness ( or lack of ) is not a feature for me. Interesting to know about the different grades of Sailor nib.

@lunchb0x_b i would recommend getting the Profit Casual. It has the top of the line steel nib, and is the same body type as the Profit Standard (1911S).
