@briannawu not trying to be snarky. Is there a reason you always spell it mastadon instead of mastodon?
Been genuinely wondering this about your posts for the last few months.
@theLUCASTDS @briannawu if you want eclectic exposure to a lot of cool boosts try following @lisamelton
Even if having that boost firehouse pointed at your feed is a bit too much it should help you find new follows.
@lisamelton @theLUCASTDS @briannawu I just mentioned you and now I’m getting several notifications a minute 😓
I can only imagine you Mastodon browsing setup must look like an old fashioned room full of computers with lots of little lights that blink on and off to deal with your traffic 🤣
@briannawu @BigAngBlack
It's actually nice to talk to people here.
Those other networks had me thinking people had just shrunken into malicious, narcissistic little shits.
Glad I'm (kind of) wrong.
@briannawu Like Musk, I have total control over my own social media site, but it only cost me a few hours of my time.
He currently has more direct users, but I think I have the up-time advantage.
Well said Brianna
@briannawu And you can actually use it. I’m more of a lurker than a poster, it’s gonna be a while before I can get on Bluesky.
You need clout or connections to get an invite, I’m lacking both.
@peter_ellis @briannawu I use Lists anywhere in order to see the topical people I want to see, atm.
When you follow enough people the home feed just becomes a firehose. Hellsite used to manage that better (sorta). Mastodon just lets it rip.
@briannawu It's called "net neutrality" or similar.
Basically, you ask the thing to get you an apple, and it delivers you an apple, or tries to deliver you an apple.
Because neither your mastodon server operator nor the fediverse have as such a hidden mission.
Now a site like dodo, is out to make money in the end. That implies also it is supposed to make analysts, investors, ad customers, etc happy.
So it needs as much as activity, so it guides its users for this purpose …
@briannawu And most people on Mastodon want to talk to each other. I've had some wonderful conversations about all kinds of things.
It's *almost* like #Usenet *before* #EternalSeptember.
