Thought I'd record deleting Apollo and its API token from the Reddit dashboard 🥹 ow
@christianselig Surprisingly easy to do considering the implications. Only the one simple confirmation.
@christianselig Also smart in case they try and slander you some more or say, try to wring money from you, which wouldn't be a Spez surprise move.
@christianselig I keep reflexively clicking the Apollo icon and getting sad all over again. Thanks for the amazing app and I wish you all the best with your next endeavors.
@christianselig Thank you for all you’ve done! Apollo was special and meant to much to many.
@christianselig that definitely hurts my soul ngl
@christianselig so sad. I’ve had a trouble with final release. It crashes when I try to change icons 😞😞😞
@christianselig rest in peace, sweet prince 🫡
@christianselig That must have both hurt and been defiantly satisfying.
@christianselig gone but never forgotten. I'll tell the stories to my grandkids.
@christianselig first time I’ve seen the death of an app like this. It’s like an extended wake. Good luck with your future endeavors.
@christianselig
Fuck man, I felt so empty when it just died as I was browsing. Knew it was coming but I was in denial 🥲

@christianselig

What was the feasibility of users generating their own tokens and having Apollo use those instead of Apollo’s own tokens?

@plasma4045 @christianselig I don’t know if it’s true but other users have posted that Reddit said they would not allow users to do that
@christianselig I’m not even surprised there isn’t a “type *something* to confirm” or anything at all

@christianselig thank you for all your hard work over all these years.

Apollo was my first and only way to browse Reddit, and the love you put into it showed.

@christianselig christian are you also on bluesky?
@christianselig thank you for creating the greatest Reddit app. I’m so sad it had to end like this. Much love and respect to you
@christianselig heart breaking, I can’t even imagine how you feel.
@christianselig this sucks i keep opening it and hoping the widget updates the art but nothing :/ Hoping you will be back with the most fire app for mastodon as a blanket replacement for twitter and reddit
@christianselig absolutely gutting. Best of luck for whatever you do next
@christianselig Realistically, could Apollo be re-tooled for an activity pub alternative?
@christianselig It's a terrible day for rain.
@christianselig I’ve used Apollo since 2016. I had scrolled over 32 miles since 2022. I spent the last hour or so browsing r/liminalspace - seemed fitting. Take all the time off you want but i also hope to see your work again someday in the decentralized social media space.
@christianselig you did right by us, your users. I did not expect to have to remove both of the apps where I spend most of the time in the same weekend, but such is life.
@christianselig ☹️ it was amazing while it lasted. Looking forward to what you come up with next!
@christianselig
You have to admit it’s pretty ballsy to have a “create anther app…” button. Someone should submit code that spells out “go f*** yourself”.
@christianselig thank you for everything. I leave Reddit with you today 🫡
@christianselig I enjoyed your app. Thanks for all the work you put into making it great. I haven’t been on reddit since the protest.
@christianselig wow. You did that is fast. You’re a strong human and will continue to do great things, I’m sure of it! Hats off to you!
