I've seen a lot of pictures of Saturn, but there's something really magical about this new raw image from JWST.
Pixel noise + filter selection make the planet vanish -- just a set of rings floating in space.

@coreyspowell I have to laugh, tho ;-> ... what did it cost to get this?

@deborahh @coreyspowell a fraction of 1% of the budget. Not to mention the innovation NASA has brought to the modern world.

There's a great Neil DeGrasseTyson video on the space budget. Worth a watch, if you can findcit.

@Edelruth @coreyspowell Thanks.
I'm not american, so have no idea: what's that in dollars (approx)?

@coreyspowell

And when you Zoom in, it's like a ball full of stars.

@coreyspowell Saturn is a beautiful planet, always will be
@coreyspowell The appreciation for the raw images is something you don't see often. Thank You, this looks amazing.
@coreyspowell the stronger distortion/transparency on the one side of the rings makes it look like something from Star Wars. Just so cool.
@coreyspowell That is really weird. Do you have the source (link)?
@coreyspowell I wonder why the rings reflect the sun more than the planet itself reflects light.
@coreyspowell it does make for a beautiful lock screen too
