"autistic people don't handle change well" society is burning down because new information on things like covid, climate change, and even sociological topics (such as trans people existing) is so upsetting to the neurotypical masses it can't even be brought up without some of them seeing it as antagonism
ok having a big serious post makes me feel like i need to include one of my fun posts to balance it out https://tech.lgbt/@chrisisgr8/109927134739296109

@chrisisgr8 good point, this is long term systemic change (which if we didn't figure out how to integrate and adapt to, we'd be stuck in childhood) whereas the type of change autistic people struggle with is short term daily plans or routines being interrupted. A shift of focus more than worldview.

@chrisisgr8

Most neuro "typicals" (they aren't typical, they just get catered to because they're easier to exploit) can't even fucking handle bringing up that there is more than just the surface level shit ON ANYTHING

@chrisisgr8

rant rant rant
froth froth froth
I am an angry cappuccino

@yuki2501 i would say that this is not exclusive to conservatives but it's definitely a baseline qualifier for a case of conservatism
@chrisisgr8 neurotypical people when their favorite social network shits the bed (they suddenly don't like change):

@chrisisgr8
As an autistic person, I can handle the new shift in info pretty well.

It's the immature conservatives who can't handle changes.

Not even moderate republicans can handle some change. At least they'd rather waste time on what services to keep and cut while they help the other crazies that are eroding democracy.

I'm not bothsidesing it; the GOP and the right-wing has gone insane. Not even a partisan attack on them, we can see how the right has become more and more extreme.

@chrisisgr8 Here's the kicker...I am NDASD and I have been preparing for the fall of society for 18 years. I knew.
@chrisisgr8 autistic and Antagonistic are not the same thing. the world is burning down because of antagonistic ( thats angry for you) assholes not because of Autistic ( a mental handicap )
@kevinatc @chrisisgr8 autism isn't "a mental handicap"! Go dump that shit in a volcano.
@chrisisgr8 Kind of implies that neurotypicals are the more rarer and that “high functioning autism” is literally just a term to demean normal people. Why is it so hard to get tested if autistic people are a minority? The neurotypicals, read: sociopaths, who run the world don’t want the truth to come out that autistic people are the norm.
@chrisisgr8 that's some awfully ableist phrasing you're handing out there.
@chrisisgr8 And guess what Elon Musk is...?
@chrisisgr8 Seeing people online and IRL who after covid could really use a therapist. Makes me thankful that I have recognised my shortcoming and working on figuring out how I fit into this world.
@simonoid @chrisisgr8 There is no after covid. Covid is still ripping through the land.

@chrisisgr8 the things ist we are confronted with change every day. We adapt. We learn.

Neurotypical don't adapt. They just scream and vote for the far right to safe them.

@chrisisgr8 I personally think that it's not that we don't handle change well, it's that we get viscerally upset when we aren't able to anticipate a change that we would have seen coming if the people in our lives could just've been fucking honest with us. See also our tendancy to get upset when we're not believed when we try to warn people that they're going somewhere they won't like.
@chrisisgr8 allistic people don't handle change well
@chrisisgr8 Um, I don't handle unexpected changes well, but when it comes to #ClimateChange and all the other crap going on, I foresaw those changes years ago. So not unexpected. But still upsetting at times.
@chrisisgr8 @Tooden The world feels overwhelming right now with all this chaos. Stay strong and see it through - good people always outnumber the bad. 👍
