Excluding some small sized subs most of the blackouts are indefinite
@lm1 they absolutely could replace them. There's an endless line of people willing to step up behind the current mods to do the job.
Most of them would hate it and quit quickly, do the job terribly, or willingly sabotage the sub, but they could absolutely do it and lower the overall quality of their content.
The question is if lowering the quality of reddit content is a problem for them or not.
@christianselig I'm hoping they change course but I'm going to delete the apollo icon from my homescreen just in case. Wouldn't want to accidentally visit the site.
Best of luck 🤞
@nheagy @christianselig I just logged out of all my accounts. I think keeping the Apollo icon on my Home Screen serves 1) as a reminder of Reddit’s shitty behavior and 2) as a tribute to Christian’s work on this awesome app.
Side note: I’m really enjoying #IceCubesApp for Mastodon
@christianselig For the last decade Twitter and Reddit were my 1 & 2 most visited sites.
Didn't want to support Twitter when it got ugly and now Reddit is heading the same direction. The muscle memory is hard to overcome.
@christianselig there was a few communities tgat I regularly checked out (hydrohomies, mountainbiking, linkedlunatics, eldenring) but I haven't touched reddit since all of this started.
At this point I don't think I'll ever visit again unless they fire their CEO and do a pi. And even then I'll be wary.
@christianselig thanks for all that you did for Reddit Christian. Apollo was my most used app for years ❤️
To the fediverse and beyond!
RIP to the best iPhone app out there
even if reddit were to somehow reverse course I will never go back there after how they acted
this whole fiasco has led me to discover Mastodon and the wider fediverse, so I've been able to find new communities to interact with and it is quite refreshing to be honest
