Movie #23: Albulance
For the record, it's movie day at the Birchler household because I feel sick and don't want to do anything else.
Also, Patrick Willems has a great video that I watched afterwards and made me appreciate this one even more. https://youtu.be/vlEEjHWJhyY
Movie #33: Full Time (Ă Plein Temps)
Had to watch something a bit more down to earth after binging on a few action blockbusters in a row đ
Movie #38: Avatar: The Way of Water
Cameron blew me away.
Oh, and itâs a shame the digital version is presented at a fixed 24fps. I donât know if I would have liked it much, and I know it was in the theatrical release to help 3D screenings feel better, but would have been nice to have the option.
Movie #30: Enys Men
Loving a good Saturday morning movie double-header đ
Movie #34: Evil Dead Rise
To my great shame, this is actually the first Evil Dead movie Iâve seen.
Movie #39: Contagion
BTW I make these mini reviews using https://quickreviews.app âď¸
Movie #41: The Evil Dead
I decided to stop watching the series in reverse and get to the start.
Movie #42: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Itâs a coincidence, but itâs honestly perfect that this was my 42nd movie of the year.
Movie #44: The Evil Dead
Watched again with friends, and my review from a few weeks ago still stands https://isfeeling.social/@matt/110480500496987707

Movie #45: Evil Dead 2
I expect this to somehow be one of my less popular reviews, even though I liked it đŤŁ
Movie #53: Air Force One
Worried I'm going to lose followers over this oneâŚ
Iâm just going to clarify my review scale real quick.
Great: unbelievable film going experiences. Very few movies fall in this category
Good: really good movie, but not something Iâd bring to a âbest movies of the decadeâ conversation
Okay: a solid film that Iâm glad I watched, but didnât really stand out for me. Maybe itâs not my style or maybe itâs kinda forgettable.
Poor: Iâm actually annoyed I spent time watching this and I canât recommend it to almost anyone.
@buffaloseven The runtime is under 2 hours, so itâs way shorter than basically all big budget movies these days đ
Pacing was solid, though!
Movie #58: Sisu
P.S. Iâm on Letterboxd and post all my reviews there as well. Iâd love to follow more people there, so drop your profile đ https://letterboxd.com/mattbirchler/
@nathansnelgrove Yeah, definitely not among his best by any means. I feel like there were moments where it comes together, but so much of it was rough.
Iâm going through the whole series, and Iâm a bit worried that itâs only downhill from here đŹ
@matt I love that he does his thing, but it didnât quite work for me. The meta-ness was quite jarring. But the style and comedy were top notch.
I probably need a second viewing to take it in proerly
@matt Iâm
astonished no one caught the âbootâ.
Great little eateregg.
@Granneman Good to know Iâm not alone đ
I really recommend the newest one. Definitely not goofy, but it really worked for me.
