Movie #18: Old

I hadn't considered changing servers would break my movies thread, but here we are ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Movie #19: TรR
Movie #20: Infinity Pool
Movie #21: Fire of Love
Movie #22: Knock at the Cabin

Movie #23: Albulance

For the record, it's movie day at the Birchler household because I feel sick and don't want to do anything else.

Also, Patrick Willems has a great video that I watched afterwards and made me appreciate this one even more. https://youtu.be/vlEEjHWJhyY

Movie #24: The Fly
Movie #25: Kimi
Movie #26: Hereditary
Movie #27: Triangle of Sadness
Movie #28: Cocaine Bear
Movie #29: Ghost Ship
Movie #30: Bullet Train
Movie #31: Moonfall
Movie #32: Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation

Movie #33: Full Time (ร€ Plein Temps)

Had to watch something a bit more down to earth after binging on a few action blockbusters in a row ๐Ÿ˜‚

Movie #34: Mission: Impossible - Fallout
Movie #35: The Father
Movie #36: Dune
Movie #37: Alice, Darling

Movie #38: Avatar: The Way of Water

Cameron blew me away.

Oh, and itโ€™s a shame the digital version is presented at a fixed 24fps. I donโ€™t know if I would have liked it much, and I know it was in the theatrical release to help 3D screenings feel better, but would have been nice to have the option.

Movie #29: Rye Lane

Movie #30: Enys Men

Loving a good Saturday morning movie double-header ๐Ÿ˜

@matt it's SO GOOD
@Barredo I was really not prepared to love it! The first movie was fine, but this one was incredible. One of the rare 3 hour movies that made me check the time remaining and wish there was a bit more.
@matt so sad there isnโ€™t a HFR 3D release for VR headsets would be incredible - maybe - Apple can snag that?! Incredible in theaters. As a new father this movie hit hard watching in theaters at that time
@matt the HFR here was used sparingly. Iโ€™d estimate 40% of the film was HFR. Iโ€™m not anti HFR, but I despised the constant swaps (often many times in one scene). They were noticeable and distracting, and Iโ€™m still mad my money was conned out of me. Not worth it.
@matt I also watched this recently, for the first time, and enjoyed it a lot. I did find the dialogue levels very difficult to follow throughout, which mostly just bummed me out because it was all so well done that I didnโ€™t want to miss anything.
@matt I watched it recently and itโ€™s fresh and remarkable (Iโ€™m new to Dune however).
@matt Florian Zeller? Am I missing something ๐Ÿค”
@ravipatel Nope, you have caught an oversight in my post ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ Fixed!
@matt Didnโ€™t think recent French movies where reaching overseas audience.
@eiffair Very few! Modern, non-English European films are definitely a blind spot for me.
@matt We are lucky enough to have a big movie industry in France, 150 French movies in 2022 which is enormous regarding the small country we are. Actually, there is an important funding system to support it.
@matt Ok now youโ€™re just messing with me.
@oliverhaslam If it helps, itโ€™s probably my favorite Roland Emmerich movie ๐Ÿ˜‚
@matt @oliverhaslam Independence Day?! - I have a soft spot for his movies they are crazy in the best kind of way - remove all logic and have a good old time :)

@tchaten @oliverhaslam Oh maybe Independence Day wins out.

Everyone can like what they like, of course, I just find these crazy in the most boring ways ๐Ÿ˜‚ There's a lot of crazy movies out there that I dig, Roland and I are just on very different wavelengths.

@matt @tchaten @oliverhaslam Guys what about the 98 Zilla?

@matt unfollowed, blocked, everywhere.

Madman.

@oliverhaslam I was so bored during this ๐Ÿ˜‚
@matt Disagree with giving this the bottom the rating, but agree about the strange lighting choice! It felt more like they shot the movie in one of those underwater tunnels at Sea World to me. And how is there supposed to a reflection within closed-off rooms anyway?
@matt This movie is too funny, omg.
@jasonbaroni Every once in a while I watch something I know must be good, I just donโ€™t dig it and I canโ€™t tell why. This is 100% one of those movies for me ๐Ÿ˜ญ
@matt Sounds comprehensive. Itโ€™s a big satire from the inside out and at times it may feel like itโ€™s shifting plots to build up a bigger story. At least this is what I felt.
@matt Classic! Need a rewatch to see how itโ€™s aged

@ravipatel I had never seen it before, so I had no nostalgia for it, and it still played great today.

Definitely feels like the 80s, but not in a bad way ๐Ÿ˜

@matt we watched this last year and absolutely loved it - fantastic action movie!
@matt what do you use to generate these images?
@bramhill I actually built my own tool to do it ๐Ÿ˜ https://quickreviews.app/
Quick Reviews

@matt of course you did ๐Ÿ˜‚ would be cool if it could pull in title/year/image from another service or site, this requires more patience than I have heh

@bramhill I've been working on some way to pull in Letterboxd reviews, but I keep running into issues, so it's all manual still.

Tragically, since I'm the primary user and I am not that picky for it, itโ€™s a low priority ๐Ÿ˜‚

@matt interesting way to share a rating. What app is that?

@wilder Gah, I had this linked at the top of the thread before I migrated servers ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Itโ€™s my own little site called Quick Reviews ๐Ÿ˜

@matt awh man! Thatโ€™s great! Thanks for answering this question and sharing for the umpteenth time ๐Ÿ˜Ž
