If you've never been the target of them, I can see why you'd think that, but as someone who has been multiple times, they very much exist here and they exist in an even more explicit form than on BigCorpo media.
The difference is that they tend to collect on instances that will accept them, and most good instances block those. But if you've been on an instance that don't, well ... be prepared for some real nasty shit if your post reaches a nazi instance ... And not just some, a dogpile of lots of them, because it only takes one person boosting something you said for lots of them to pile on you.
RatherOddPursuits 🦆Yeah I've had to block several before my instance blocked most Russia based servers by default because seemed like those instances weren't moderating at all.

I miss many of my friends back on ‘the site which cannot speak its own name because it keeps changing and therefore isn’t sure what it is,’ but I miss neither of the things you mention. There are many other things I do not miss, but I cannot be bothered to take to time to enumerate them.
