I’m newish to Mastodon and would like to follow more people who post about the following: #FiberArt #embroidery #EmbroideryArt #anatomy #AnatomyArt #SciArt and #MedicalHistory. If you know of people like this or are one yourself, let me know!
@lia_pas I have a bunch of mutuals who do fiber arts and embroidery, so I’ve boosted; not sure about the anatomy part, but it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s someone in my followers!
@lia_pas Hello! I embroider, do mixed media fibre arts and I've bought a loom to take up tapestry weaving:)
@rowenamonde oooo! I haven’t gotten into weaving but I find it fascinating
@lia_pas It is! It's been so much fun to learn. I look forward to your toots!:)

@lia_pas hi, welcome!

I'm not great about posting my projects, but I'm a knitter/embroiderer/general fiber artist. I am an admirer of medical illustration and nerd for medical history, also! I can't promise a lot of content though.

@skrulls It sounds like we have similar interests!
@lia_pas I don't know about follows but you might be interested in this podcast: https://maximumfun.org/podcasts/sawbones/ Note, there are also heavy doses of pop-culture and silliness but also informative. Recent episodes I found quite informative include Hepatitis C, Blood Donation.

@inspired That is definitely up my alley but sadly, podcasts don’t play well with my brain 😔 I’m a voracious reader and absorb energy much better that way.
@lia_pas Kia ora Lia. I do fibre arts and also sewing. Looking forward to seeing what you create. I mostly work with recycled fabrics and like playing with colour.

@lia_pas I recommend @cognissart for embroidery! I also dabble, but I post about lots of other things, too. :)

Good luck finding great folks to follow!

@lia_pas Welcome to Mastodon!
I embroider, paint, and crochet, but post with very variable frequency!
@lia_pas hi Lia! I do stuff with sci art, sound and Transdisciplinary research on environmental topics. Welcome to Mastodon!
@kat That's definitely what I'm looking for! I'm a composer and have done some soundscape work in the past
@lia_pas @virtuosew it me! Here’s my current project :)

@lia_pas I don’t do embroidery but I’ve been considering getting a sewing machine that will automate it.

I’m thinking it would be a great way to recycle clothes. If there’s a stain on a shirt, or some unsightly brand logo, embroidery could perhaps be used to cover it up & make the clothing more presentable.

@lia_pas My hesitation though is that I don’t suppose there are any #openSource / #FOSS based machines for this.
@aktivismoEstasMiaLuo @lia_pas While the machines themselves are closed, there is FOSS for design and creating the files to run on the machines: Inkstitch for Inkscape

@jimp Glad to hear about #inkStitch. It has not made it into official #Debian repos but at least there is a .deb file.

I will consider it.. maybe I can get over the unnervingness of a closed sewing device. I’ll have to look into whether the machines have a consequential designed obsolesnce problem.

@aktivismoEstasMiaLuo I'm big into Visible Mending! I've done hand embroidery over holes and stains, as well as some sashiko work and patches as well.
@lia_pas I make machine embroidery designs and do sewing stuff. And https://mastodon.social/@silverseams@artisan.chat makes in-the-hoop embroidery designs and plush animals. Welcome to Mastodon!
@lia_pas Might be interesting to join the #sewingGroup, which is listed here: https://fedi.directory/tag/fediverse-groups/

@aktivismoEstasMiaLuo Thank you! There was also a tea and a fibre arts group that I followed too

@lia_pas I just started experimenting with embroidery and also I have MECFS, and I bookmarked one of your posts a few weeks ago to remind me to look at your profile (and then I forgot because of brainfog yay)

so anyway, hello!

@7ZZ7 Hello! I’m always excited for people taking up embroidery!
@sennoma @lia_pas If you follow the #sciart hashtag, you'll probably find lots of others too : )
@artologica @sennoma I check that hashtag pretty regularly and I think I’m following most people there already 😆
@lia_pas @artologica @sennoma We're slowly growing, but the #SciArt crowd has been slow to move into mastodon. Which is understandable, and I hope that the more active we get here the more will join us.
@lia_pas Welcome! My friend @celli is a fantastic embroiderer - she did a solar system recently that was out of this world! 🥁
@lia_pas Boosted! (Not into any of those things myself but I know a lot of people who are)
