I’m newish to Mastodon and would like to follow more people who post about the following: #FiberArt #embroidery #EmbroideryArt #anatomy #AnatomyArt #SciArt and #MedicalHistory. If you know of people like this or are one yourself, let me know!

@lia_pas I don’t do embroidery but I’ve been considering getting a sewing machine that will automate it.

I’m thinking it would be a great way to recycle clothes. If there’s a stain on a shirt, or some unsightly brand logo, embroidery could perhaps be used to cover it up & make the clothing more presentable.

@lia_pas My hesitation though is that I don’t suppose there are any #openSource / #FOSS based machines for this.
@aktivismoEstasMiaLuo @lia_pas While the machines themselves are closed, there is FOSS for design and creating the files to run on the machines: Inkstitch for Inkscape

@jimp Glad to hear about #inkStitch. It has not made it into official #Debian repos but at least there is a .deb file.

I will consider it.. maybe I can get over the unnervingness of a closed sewing device. I’ll have to look into whether the machines have a consequential designed obsolesnce problem.
