What is the #phish take you've heard that is so bad you can't shake it?

For me it is someone who tweeted that in 1994, he and all of his friends used to head straight for the bathroom when Down With Disease used to start because it was so bad and predictable.

The jams of '94 Diseases were 5-6 minutes of patient, melodic and explosive tension and release jamming. Soaring melodies with relentless urgency.

To single them out still has me muttering to myself a few years after reading it.

@drewphish 99% of the crowd seemed to hate WTU for the first year. That's really stuck with me. Not a take exactly, but it said a lot
@mrcompletely I *adore* WTU. It is a rare time when they play with the same dynamic contrast they used to play with all the time. They just don't get that soft anymore and they used every Slave, Hood, Foam, etc. What makes the louds sound loud is the softs!
@drewphish they also almost never do an extended outro anymore either. Still love it and in the right moment it can work well but it's not quite the jewel it was
@drewphish I'm also the founder and only known member of PFTROLFMLTJ, People For The Return Of Long Form My Left Toe Jams

@drewphish People who say they “can’t get into” pre-95 Phish. Drives me nuts. 1993 and 1994 is top notch Phish when it comes to the composed playing, the playfulness and the early experimental jams.

The experimental epic jams of Summer ‘95 don’t happen without the initial experimental epic jams Fall ‘94.

@drewphish not necessarily a take, but I'm annoyed by people who basically don't enjoy any of the newer songs and only want to hear songs from the 90s
@drewphish I'm always happy to hear them try out new material. It's what keeps it interesting to me

@chris @drewphish To be fair, a lot of the newer songs are straightforward, mid tempo things with sappy, on the nose lyrics. There’s a reason for all the memes about love, light, and oceans. Any of them may be capable of launching huge jams but the songs themselves just objectively aren’t very good.

I don’t want to hear 90’s only, but I also think much of the newer stuff is subpar.

@drewphish I can’t stand show reviewers that are stuck on their own expectations and bitch about song selection. I read one that was “confounded” by a Waste encore and I couldn’t shake it for days. Imagine ever being “confounded” by Waste. If nearly any other band wrote that song it’d be the encore at every damn show.
@drewphish I’m glad I got into Phish’s music so late in the game because I’m not afflicted by this one era Vs other era’s improvising. I’ve been listening for 15 years or so but it’s all still very exciting to my virgin ears.
@LittleTokyo @drewphish I feel you there, this is still year 2 for me
@drewphish my wife told me “I prefer studio phish to the live stuff” with a straight face
@drewphish the one that takes the cake for me is “song length = quality of playing” and it’s everywhere
@Rosey @drewphish you obviously haven't heard this 70 minute long version of Hell Yeah
@chris @drewphish Chris, I will be honest. I’ve never listened to any version of Hell Yeah. That may say more about me than pppp, but it’s the truth.
@Rosey @drewphish it's all good. Just messing 😏
@drewphish a certain someone likes to say Dayton 97 is overhyped.

@BDunn @drewphish

Dayton 97 is a great show.

11/17, 11/19, 11/21, 11/22, 11/23, 11/26, 11/28, 11/29, 11/30, 12/2, 12/3, 12/6, 12/11, 12/12, and 12/13 from the same tour are all better than it.

@chopaganda @drewphish I disagree. I knew Chop would find my statement. 😂
@drewphish a friend of mine who saw her first show at Sugerbush ‘94 said she cannot stand Tweezer. I always think of this when someone mentions her, or when I see her in person. I just can’t get over this.
@drewphish I know a guy who gets upset every time DWD is played.

@chillwig @drewphish

You try to find a way to
But there's nothing you can say
To make it stop
(Stop, stop, stop, stop)
(Stop, stop, stop, stop)
(Stop, stop, stop, stop)
(Stop, stop, stop)

@chopaganda @drewphish also i almost always make it back from the bathroom in time for the jam
