... you weren't kidding about people lucking into rescues. Any idea who besides Cassie & Blackpaw are on the incidental rescue squad?

Possibly with help from the Priest-Queen and/or Umbral, Cassie can figure out who the books belong to (her majesty?), and get permission to either move them somewhere safer for books or alter the current location soas to arrest the decay?

You're in the Hollow looking for reagents quite often, and seem to run out of snacks & things to find rather than carrying capacity most trips. Would adding a book or three to what you bring out each trip add a lot of overhead? With the shifting passages it's hard to guess how much of a detour the library is likely to be on your way out on any given trip. (Rescued adventurers can carry extra books.)

A motive to rescue more adventurers to haul books!

Read it, if it's still legible. Let it dry and see if it's salvageable. Find a scribe who might copy any surviving useful information? (Maybe you haven't mentioned all the volumes too rotten to open for each one that was legible and interesting? Your hit rate for readable has been good.) Sell or trade them? (Would the mouse shopkeeper value books?) Establish a library? Practice materials for archaeology students?

Well, Cassie didn't fall for lying to Peia about how long it'd been between visits. If all Peia can do is observe her immediate environment and talk with visitors, and Cassie is aware of how she's reacting to Peia and whether she's bending her own ethics ... that doesn't mean Peia can't talk someone else into making Cassie's life difficult if Cassie annoys her or turns her down. Hrm.

Tangentially, are we-the-readers "random strangers" to Cassie? We know too much.

@kelkyag @Tuftears I haven't figured out a formal way to work "Cassie talks to readers" into the narrative. I kind of think of it as a substitute for her chatting with characters in the setting, but it's clearly not a one-to-one thing where whatever she says in chat will get reflected in a journal entry somewhere.

@rowyn @kelkyag That does seem pretty reasonable. ^.^ Like she talks to some villagers about her recent happenings, and they commiserate with her, or go 'Oh, that's bad' when she mentions Peia, etc.
