Arguably it's mutually beneficial for Umbral to steer clueless adventurers in the Hollow to Cassie before they injure or anger any of the residents. Less trouble for Umbral & co. More appreciation (and reagents?) for Cassie. Not what Cassie signed up for, though she did volunteer her easier path out to Fanish & company...

@rowyn So this prince is a summoner and an immigrant to the Underlands. Does he surrender his royalty as part of the process of pledging loyalty to the Dark Ruler? I mean, otherwise if all claimants to the throne perish and he's left, that means technically his kingdom would be in thrall to the Underlands.
