#Links to #Story Samples Written by R.S.

I've written very short fiction stories in my universe for #Mastodon under various hashtags. They're first citizen samples of my 1st person writing, in my casual—made to be read aloud—writing style, and include my still evolving characters. None tally much more than 750 words, with a hard character limit set by my instance. I think they're an easy read. Some are based on my earlier works, some on works not yet written. Most of what was written for Mastodon was written quickly, edited immediately, then posted. It could be better, but I've resisted more than revising typos or inappropriate words. Everything is experimental; nothing should be considered canon.

@sfwrtr Continuing the conversation from elsewhere re: links over here…

The “Not Chattel” one gives this:

@whybird
Okay, I found your broken link post and am replying to it. "It works for me" seems lame, but it does. I did tech support for decades. Can you try again? It may have been a temporary glitch at the instance. Can I assume only that link failed? You sounded like you read most of my stuff... 😇

@sfwrtr Don’t worry, a friend of mine invented the certification programme for that: https://blog.codinghorror.com/the-works-on-my-machine-certification-program/ ;)

Yes, the other links I’ve tried all work, though one looks different for some unknown reason (image 1) and my client (Mona) opens it in a browser window rather than natively.

“Not Chattel” does not work for me either yesterday nor today, neither in Mona nor in the browser (In the browser I get image 2), and it is the same result in either the post with all the links or the one you just sent.

Some form of magic is hiding that specific one from me, it seems ;)

The “Works on My Machine” Certification Program

Joseph Cooney had a brilliant idea for a new application certification program. But Vista’s bland white-on-gray badge, in my opinion, doesn’t properly communicate the... authoritative... nature of said program. With the help of Jon Galloway, we zazzed things up a bit: You might think attaining such a prestigious,

@whybird
Phooey. It is pilot error. I hadn't completely understood how mentions work and it is a post private to me. Of course you can't see it! How embarrassing. I will send you the story via private mention and repost it tomorrow when I have the brain cells recharged.
@sfwrtr Not a problem! Thanks for sending it - I will read soon :)
