IT CAME
The whole reason I bought this: the miniatures lol

I have not delved into painting yet

Soon

bruh look at that shit two posts up

i alt-texted all four of them and mastodon deleted 2 of them

50%

wtfffffff

I feel like I can get better fallout themed dice
i need more table space
i think i can scrub down the other half of my current computer table and use that lol

watching painting videos

why did i start this lol

i have no art skills and programmer potato eyes why did i start buying this shit lololol
[demonic fallout lust]

sprues is a fun word tho

altho the fallout warfare stuff comes pre-assembled

i've also learned to hate every single miniature painting tutorial blog post because they use 234978292542345 words to say one thing

also no one explains the myriad tools involved

the eight million different types of paints, primers, and brushes

they're all like "pick an appropriate brush". thanks bruh, i'll figure it out

seriously considering just buying some random ass vallejo color set and fucking shit up since that's what i expect from a first time anyway

i should look at my figures and actually plot out what colors i would need instead of winging it

tbh that feels a lot less exciting than winging it

i almost failed art class in high school

did you know that about me

well now you know

i just realized i can use one of my new fallout mugs to hold water for painting

the synergy

i think imma have to reorg my older desktop 'puter, shift my work laptop to my long table, and this will clear up my square work table to be a painting table
will this new hobby be an excuse for me to buy a brand spanking new high cri headlamp tho??? đŸ¤”đŸ¤”đŸ¤”đŸ¤”đŸ¤”

are miniature brushes supposed to cost like $20-30 each

these are disposable items right

i assume they last longer than toothbrushes at least xD

i'm sorry

dickblick?

midlund flesh

a work lamp i can clamp to the edge of my table is prolly better than a headlamp

disappointed by this tbh

i'm in a forum discussing the grain of paint pigments

help

i'm getting the feeling i am in very subjective "just try a buncha fukken paints and see what works/what you like" territory

this is why hobbies are expensive

is 100ml of a paint a lot

it feels like a lot

in my wasteland there will be canon giant otters and hippos and you cannot stop me đŸ¦¦đŸ¦›
i thought to myself "alright obviously start with power armor because you can just prime it and start with a gray metal base layer and highlight whatever" and it turns out metal paints are a whole other kettle of fish
i might need to make a tiny minutemen stencil

i wonder if modiphius sells fo76 specific minis like excavator power armor

i didn't see any but that site is a little... confusing, sometimes

it does not inspire confidence when you try to make an account on some hobby store and the account creation fails with a blank page
oh shit but they have a sale on some fallout minis lololol
don't do it bums

gonna sleep on this and the colors i want

also: i still can't make a goddamn account on this site

i lied i added more brushes and ordered lololol

ALRIGHT

NO MORE SPENDING MONEY UNTIL I ACTUALLY PAINT SOMETHING

i clicked on a 20 minute video on how to thin paint

that's where my head's at

the best thing about modding fallout 4 to hell and back is modern equipment totally fits my headcanon and opens the field to me utilizing a broad array of more modern wargaming assets lololol

none of the vehicles work tho

you'd need some very specific atompunk or whatever style to match aside from some tanks or apcs fallout has in-game

all the wasteland/punk opposition minis on etsy totally slot right in as fallout raiders, as long as they're 32mm and have roughly actual realistic human proportions xD
@worthlessbums Okay but this is SUPER important, paint consistency is everything!
@worthlessbums I'm sure you believe that :p

@worthlessbums so I used to paint minis and I keep being tempted to start again. Pigments have improved tremendously, and you can get the same/better results with what would be classed as speedpainting compared to the hours I would take. Look up the slapchop method. Start with black primer, dry brush white over it, color with contrast/speedpaint and uh.. that’s it. Maybe detail tiny things. Clear coat it.

Slapchop technique: how to quickly paint miniatures

The slapchop technique, surely you've heard of it. But what is the slapchop technique and what is about? And why do you need Speedpaint?

Miniatures of Death

@rje i'm already over $100 and if i get to $125 i save $25

this is how they get me

@worthlessbums Not if you're painting a house.
