I really didn't think that garment #sewing would hold my interest after completing the first couple of items but it's grabbed me like few other interests have. There are so many separate skills that must be mastered, so many variations on items that can be sewn, and then, you have a custom-made garment that you can wear for a very long time!
@EllenInEdmonton @yoboseiyo @Rivikah I figure that once I add up the PITA of finding parking, walking the mall, getting lunch...sewing doesn't really take any more time. The effort I put in comes back to me in the form of skills, a pattern library, etc while time spent standing in line just goes down the drain. The changing room is more private.

Agreed. I'll probably keep picking up items like leggings and underpants at Costco from time to time while shopping for groceries but I want the skills and the personalization that comes with #MeMade clothing. The stores don't sell bright purple cotton pyjamas with Okinawa cotton pockets! Now, if only I could figure out the perfect dart placement and armscye, all would be well.

@EllenInEdmonton @kelleynnn @yoboseiyo I am not yet doing underpants. I tried them once and found them fiddly and the results weren't that good. I'll probably try again eventually. Not yet though.

I've had some success with bras, but most of those are still store bought too.

Since I only wear sports bras, the fewer seams the better & since my size isn't readily available, I'm quite motivated to figure that out. I did make one "bra", using the #LimestoneLeggings pattern from #SewLiberated and it was actually extremely easy, just not a snug enough fit since I made it with cotton jersey. I bought some swimwear fabric for my next attempt but that will have to wait until at least summertime since I'm off on a long #RoadTrip later this week
@EllenInEdmonton @Rivikah @kelleynnn @yoboseiyo I love sewing activewear! Could I make some fabric recommendations? If you want light-medium support from an unlined crop top / sports bra (my favorite too!) you’re gonna want good leggings type fabric. Swim is fine but it’s so cold and slithery, so I really prefer something else. Something like The Styled Magnolia’s Endurance fabric would have a lot of support and be less cold to the touch. Something like an athletic brushed poly is much warmer and softer. And if you want to stick with sports bras but need compression, you’ll want a pattern that has a liner. Use Power Mesh for the liner and the ladies will be immobilized! Greenstyle Patterns also has a really good selection of athletic fabric.

Oh, thanks so much for the recommendations! I'm about to head off on a 4-week road trip so I won't be tackling this for a while. I've worn bras that are essentially swimwear and that's pretty decent for moderate compression. I shop locally for fabric but one of our stores has a very wide range of knits. Most of my favourite bras have just been 2 pieces of sturdy fabric with a decent band underneath so a lot of the trick will be fabric management.
